  • Improves Titlebar buttons.
  • Option to make titlebar buttons Blue.
  • Improves scrollbars to a more crisp Aqua style.

  • Improves bevel buttons to a more crisp Aqua style.
  • Improves Small Push buttons (like in the Finder copy dialog) to a more crisp Aqua style.
An alternative to using ShapeShifter is downloading this installer package version of the theme: http://www.maxthemes.com/themes/downloads/tiger/SmoothStripes%205.1.1.zip

TUPRING  I too think this theme needs to have the other varients and sunken buttons put back in. Then I will want to use it again.

MARIUS_TH  First you removed the sunken buttons, which was the main thing people went to download your themes for, and now you're removing squared edges, when you upgrade you've gotta ADD things, not remove them...

what will be gone at a next upgrade?

I've modded an old version of your theme so i could still have the sunken buttons, but it'd be better if you just brought those back i believe.

MARK STEVENS.   Wow I like it. It's a nice continuation of the original "Simple Aqua" theme.

MACSTERDAM  This is my all-time favourite Mac theme - this is how Aqua really should be. I'm really grateful this theme is available and it's free as well, what more do you want.

SAGE  Whiney people... some of you have no perspective as to how long it takes to iron out the details that Max has worked on, and it's free for pete's sake.

As always Max, keep up the excellent work! (So happy now that sunken buttons are back :-)

ANONYMOUS  Yeah I got to side with John here. Max shouldn't have even started with Smooth Stripes.

There was a theme out there already by Kevin Knopp I believe that looked just like this almost a year before Max came out with his "version"

Come to think of it, most of his themes are copies of other people's themes.

Max, learn some originality. You'll get a bit more respect that way.

JOEL MUELLER  You original review was deleted because it sounded invalid. Please provide a screenshot or URL of the previous theme that Max "copied".

MAX RUDBERG  SmoothStripes was the first theme I ever made (back in 10.1 I believe), and I made it for my own use because I wanted to get rid of the stripes in OS X. At that time the themes I knew of were Sosumi and Unlined Aqua. While Unlined Aqua also removed the stripes, I wanted a brighter theme. I then decided to put it on the web and that's how my theme making started. I learned much later that Kevin Knopp who made Sosumi had made a theme called Simple Aqua before me which accomplished the same thing. Had I known about this I would of course just used Kevin's theme because it was so similar. But he first told me about SimpleAqua and that he did not like that I made a theme based on the same simple idea of removing stripes until long after I had released the first version. And at that point SmoothStripes had already evolved beyond just removing stripes to refining Aqua so I did not want to discontinue it. Kevin's SimpleAqua is also available for 10.3, but it's hard to come by. I know he have posted a link in the Macnn forums though.

But claiming that Kevin's theme look "just like" SmoothStripes 4 is plain wrong. Kevin's theme only ever removed the stripes while my theme adds many improved Aqua elements.

I'm not saying SmoothStripes is original, nor is Aqua Extreme.

But I'm a bit offended that you say that most of my themes are copies. None of my themes are copies.

Some are evolved Apple designs, one is an authorized port of a k-scheme and three are ports of GUIs from other OS's.

Aluminum Alloy, EYLO, Milk and Rhapsodized are all original designs. So I do not understand your comment.

I believe I have plenty of originality.

VEGAN  What do you mean, "Max, learn some originality. You'll get a bit more respect that way." Max has plenty of originality, which Max pointed out, and I don't know of anyone (excluding you) who doesn't respect Max.
