DESCRIPTION
Serial Mail is an AppleScript to generate serial mailings from a template using Apple Mail and data provided by an Address Book group. The messages are generated and you may choose whether to save or send the messages - so you can review the result before sending.

The script will process the message body of the (selected) template message and replace certain tags by their corresponding value from the Address Book for each recipient. You may use custom data by specifing your own labels in the "related names" section of the persons Address Book entry (e.g. "Assistant", "Customer number", etc.) and the script will replace the corresponding tags by the corresponding Address Book values (Example: I use the script to inform students of their score (and other stuff), which is stored in AddressBook).

    RORO01  A NOTE OF CAUTION. The Read Me attached to this download says:

    "Important: Bug in OS X 10.4 may lead to loss of Address Book data

    There were a few reports of users completely losing the contents of their Address Book while working with Serial Mail. The problem is not related to Serial Mail, it is due to a bug in Mac OS X, presumably the SyncService. There are many reports of this problem in the Apple discussion group. From these reports it appears that the problem comes form a sync (like iSync) conflicting with another application trying to access the Address Book.
