ARITAK  I have been using Smart Scroll regularly since nov 2008, with great satisfaction. Recently, I encountered the "scroll freezing" problem with Smart Scroll 3.5.2 and Firefox 3.6 on certain websites. Contacted the developer, he responded immediately. Even if it was Sunday, he considered my support request and after exchanging a couple of emails to better understand the circumstances, in a matter of a few hours he found the solution: turning off Firefox's Smooth scrolling function under Preferences>Advanced>General. Now everything works fine. Needless to say that I am quite impressed by the extraordinary customer service offered...!

Smart Scroll is a really nice thing and the support is fantastic. It's not free (even if you can use it in trial mode) but in my opinion, it is well worth the expense to get the full license.

DOUGSTER  This updated version of Smart Scroll would not behave with Firefox 3.5.7. The problem was that whenever I attempted to scroll up and down a page, within a couple of mouse scrolls the page would 'stick and I then had to drag the page up/down using the scroll bar.

Reverted back to version 3.4 of Smart Scroll and no problems at all.

DOUGSTER  Well,if you're 'crazy',JP,then that makes two of us! Smart Scroll 3.5.2 works okey dokey in Camino and Safari. But that's of little use to us,eh! The developer is usually fast at fixing any problems, though as previously said,SS 3.4 does the job in Firefox perfectly.

JP  Reverting to 3.5.1 fixes FF wonkyness but i lose iPhoto skim capabilities for events unless i turn off SS for iPhoto.

MACSOLU  --

MacUpDate Admins: Version 3.5.2 does NOT "require" Mac OS X 10.6.x. The developer's web page indicates it works fine with 10.5.x and even 10.4.x.

MISHA  Thanks, I believe there was a time when the 10.6 version was 10.6-only. The note should have removed since then, though, and now has!

HEY BILLY!!!  I love this app and don't know why it's not part of the OS. The only problem I'm having is I have to reinstall and restart occasionally. I don't know what leads to it, but it will happen about once a week or so and is a little irritating. 5 stars even with that though.

F451  My luck has certainly been different that others here. I simply contact Marc and tell him of my issues, and he replies about the situation. I also have sent him crash logs, and he tells me what he makes of them in reference to Smart Scroll. He's always been honest to me about any situation, good or bad.

He's fixed many an issue, and now Firefox is on board. Count me as one of the thankful licensed owners.

FOTODIVR  One Star and this is not for the Hollywood Walk of Fame!

I actually paid for this application and if the developer had ANY integrity, he, she, it, they would offer refunds.

It is now turned off. Too many conflicts with TRUE 10.6.2 application and with the OS itself.

Don't need this drama!

If you install it or buy it - it is at your own risk!

This is truly a "buyer beware" product!

COWICIDE  You are nuts, this developer is very responsive. I had an issue with Safari 4.0.4 and I emailed the dev, and he fixed it the same day with a silent update.

FOTODIVR  @ cowcide

Thank you for your comment about my experience. You did address your experience but you have no idea my experience with the developer. I wrote several times and never got one response.

Daily updates or close is not the way you programme... If that were the case you would be updating every day with MacOS. There are constant improvements with OS X but we see the results after a lot of testing by us developers. (Yes, I am an Apple Developer).

What you as a user of this software in its current state is an alpha tester for every little fix.

Do you feel you should pay for alpha testing?

And voting me negative doesn't alter the truth.

ROBOTANK  The point is that most users I've seen post here, including me, have had very positive experiences with Smart Scroll's developer. I'm not suggesting that you're lying or anything, but it seems likely that there's some reason he didn't receive your emails. As for your review, it deserves to be frowned on because it's very vague and doesn't really say anything other than that you experienced conflicts and no one should buy the app. Write a proper review if you want people to respond constructively to your opinions and experiences.

DAHMENATOR  Version 3.4 isn't stable in Snow Leopard 10.6.2. Troubleshooting tips in the Preferences pane for Smart Scroll are not effective. I've rebuilt permissions several times, trashed the Smart Scroll plist file and reinstalled. I had it running for a few days, now it's broken again.

RAZZ  It looks like Safari and Mail quit unexpectedly - actually happens when nothing else is going on.

I turn off Smart Scroll and the crashing ends.

I'll be glad to forward my crash logs.
