DESCRIPTION
MenuTunes provides a system-wide interface for controlling and interacting with Apple's iTunes 4. MenuTunes gives you a fully featured system-wide frontend for controlling iTunes. In addition to standard playback controls, MenuTunes can also change the repeat and shuffle modes, currently selected playlist, and even let you specify a rating for the currently playing track. With MenuTunes' easy to use preferences, you can specify what items the menu should show, and even what order to show them in.
Don't want to use a menu to control iTunes? Don't want to use the mouse at all? With MenuTunes, you don't have to. You can opt to use a customizable set of system-wide hot-keys instead. You can even set hot-keys for controlling the repeat and shuffle modes, which, even within iTunes, have no keyboard equivalents.

BETATESTER Looke nice and if the system wide artist or album browsing would work, this would be great. But for me, only the playlist browsing works
Artist or album browsing does not (maybe because my iTunes library is to big
? Without it, MenuTunes still is nice, but I stay with Spark for the keyboard shortcuts and info window
because I need Spark for my apple scripts anyway. (Version 1.7.2)

BILL SCHJELDERUP I just upgraded to v1.7 and it seems to be working well. I selected this product years ago because it let me assign hot keys, that actually worked. I've never had a problem with the product that wasn't fixed very quickly by the developer. The price is reasonable, and I'm a very happy user. The only "problem" I've run into I belive is more an iTunes issue. While importing tracks, I can't use MenuTunes to control iTunes playing of music. My assumption has been this is a limitation of iTunes rather than of MenuTunes. (Version 1.7)

ANONYMOUS lots of iTunes controllers around but this one stands out for its features & design: best of all it gives you instant access to artists, albums and playlists so you can choose your music from the menu bar and shows previous track and upcoming songs as well. I much prefer it to ByteController (which I used for a while) and Synergy (which Ive looked at). Simple + elegant, like an integral part of OSX. (Version 1.5.1, running on 10.3.9 with iTunes 4.7.1) (Version 1.5.1)

JOSEPH SPIROS The play/pause being useless as far as pausing goes was an issue with Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger", which has been fixed in MenuTunes 1.5.1. (Version 1.5.1)

X9! This App IS NOT, I repeat: IS NOT, a "blatent rip-off" of Synergy. MenuTunes has been around quite a long time... I remember using it on Jaguar when it was first released. Back then, it was freeware and a VERY small application. Didn't have half the options it does now. But, I must say, this app is very cool. Just wish it could be moved around in the menubard and wouldn't corrupt the plist that runs the menubar. It's only happened once, and maybe the next version will fix both of those. (Version 1.2)
