DESCRIPTION

DVDRemaster is an utility for Mac OS X to recompress large DVDs so that they fit on standard DVD5. DVDRemaster can also convert DVDs so they can be watched on iPod nano, iPod classic, iPod touch, iPhone, Apple TV and much more. It can either copy an entire DVD and keep all tracks, copy the main feature only, or copy selected audio and video tracks only.

DVDRemaster Pro also allows you to extract raw data streams from your DVD. These can be reused in other applications.

WHAT'S NEW
Version 4.4.1 includes a few bug fixes that improve the handling of non-ascii characters as well as general stability. It features fixes for the following issues:
  • Fixed a bug where DVDRemaster would loop forever when a non-ascii character was present in the destination path
  • Fixed a issue where DVDRemaster would not display properly some non-ascii characters
  • Fixed crashes when converting certain DVDs
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later (10.4 is required for DVD burning and FairMount).

XYPHER  Am I glad I got this as part of the MU Promo. I was up to my ears with 5 different apps trying to demux a DVD Musical for hours on end so I thought I would see what this could do. It separated the 6 Audio tracks into their component streams, leaving me to choose the one I wanted to keep. I just chopped up the wave into tracks and burned to two CD's. The whole demuxing process took about 20mins.

Awesome!

Hope they start to add support for Blu-Ray soon.  (Version 4.4)

MACTOE  It REALLY angers me that developers are still doing utterly STUPID things... such as crippling demo software... as in DVDRemaster. This demo lets you copy a DVD but deliberately distorts the video every few minutes. That's pretty much like letting you test drive a new car but it will run out of gas a mile from the lot (so you can't steal it or misuse it?)... but it proves the car works! How very clever.

It is highly unlikely anyone would want this software to copy ONE or even a few DVD's. They'll probably want it to archive their entire collection... so, why not allow the demo to fully function for either a prescribed number of successful copies or a time period.

Crippling demo software and/or putting countdown timers on splash screens, or requiring a demo license via email, is... in my opinion, grounds to dismiss it.

I've been developing software for over 20 years... demos should be immediately accessible and fully functional so a user can try it and gain confidence it is a reliable product.

Notice I did not rate this software as it may be a very good product and I do not want to damage it's rating. However, I will not entertain purchasing it until a reliable and fully functional demo is available... and you shouldn't either.  (Version 4.3.2)

KUKKIS  Perfect for extracting DVD to any QT supported codec. Works way better then any other similar application in that task.  (Version 4.3.2)
