BENGT77  I haven't used PostCard, but for the people wanting to use this application solely as an iCards alternative, there is PopCard.me. It does almost everything iCards used to do and be. It offers a simple web interface where you can select standard pictures to make your own greeting card, the text on which will be nicely anti-aliased. When sent, the receiver only gets a JPEG of the card you sent, just like iCards. There's one difference, however, which makes PopCard.me even better than iCards: it's connected to flickr, meaning you can make a card from any flickr photo with a Creative Commons license. Very nice.

I found the service a little while ago, while searching for good iCards alternatives. Well, not really alternatives, as iCards is long dead (may it rest in peace).

KODAC  I noticed the price went back up from $5 to $10. Does that mean it's no longer machine-specific?

RHETT  The activation features alone turns me off to purchasing this program. I'll take my petty $5 and spend it elsewhere, sleeping well tonight knowing I didn't support this kind of aggressive tactics towards customers.

ANONYMOUS  The app is simple but clean and it handle smoothly pics of any size.

A pity it was conceived so paranoiacally. Not only is it machine specific but you have to be connected to internet to use it.

In addition the Paypal procedure for paying is a hell : I gave up after 6 attempts. Lousy interface + limited delay for interacting with it = your session is voided for a (long) moment before you can conclude.

My advice : wait until the authors finds how many customers he is loosing because of Paypal and finds a more reasonable payment procedure.

This is not true. You only have to be on the internet when you first purchase the app.

"wait until the authors finds how many customers he is loosing because of Paypal"

Paypal is owned by eBay which handles about $30B per year in transactions. People find Paypal easy enough to use it for more than 70% of those transactions.

I get several dozen of sales a day from people who have no problems with the service.

ANONYMOUS  I agree... Paypal is shocking. Especially if you don't reside in the US. I just avoid PayPal sites now.

G4 AT FLIGHT  Why can't the developer (any developer) just admit they screwed things up, but instead, they always throw it back at the customers? That's no way to sell the product. Same as the develope of RapidWeaver, wouldn't even reply any email. It sucks!

ROB  I like most of the features. Would love to be able to change the postmark. A lot of Windows people won't get the Cupertino joke and, besides, I'd like to put my own home town in there. Would love it if you made the postmark either removeable or customizable.

LTEXACO  It’s a cute little program but beware the license IS machine specific, make sure you download it on the machine you want to use it on or you will be throwing your money away... I only gave PostCard an overall rating of 1 because I like to be in control of the software I buy...

ANONYMOUS  If you can explain to me a practical way to protect software from piracy without a machine specific license, I'd be happy to change the license method.

As it is, I've reduced the cost of the app from $15 to $5 when I made the license machine specific. Also, all upgrades are free.
