DESCRIPTION
GPSNavX is the solution for the boater that wants to take the Macintosh aboard for real-time display of position on full color marine Softcharts and BSB raster charts.
Just plug your GPS into your Macintosh and watch as your boat moves along in real-time, plotting a track behind the boat and logging your historic position on a digital chart. GPSNavX is loaded with many features. GPSNavX is also right at home for planning trips and charting out new destinations. A GPS is not required to work with charts.
Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later, any GPS that transmits NMEA and the appropriate data cable (typically available through GPS manufacturer) and a serial port (Keyspan USB to serial). Note: A GPS is not required to work with charts.

MTOWNFRED This is a great program and the developer is very responsive to any questions I've had. You can download official NOAA charts for free [ http://chartmaker.ncd.noaa.gov/ ] which work perfectly with the program. The usb GPS unit I use is the GlobalSat
BT-359 SiRF Star III Bluetooth GPS Receiver which has worked flawlessly with the program. Routes are easily created with way points and distances calculated automatically. Saved my butt when my chart plotter failed on one of my cruises. I always have it running while out on the water. Far more accurate than a chart plotter because of the detailed charts from NOAA.
