KIDCLAM  I haven't even tried out Saft yet, but on the same minute it was installed it already asked for money. So I trashed the application yet it is still asking me to install Saft upon opening Safari with an annoying Pop up window. Way to go. If you don't pay it becomes a Spam software.

So how do I uninstall?

MACUPDATE ADMIN  http://haoli.dnsalias.com/Saft/Installation/index.html:

Removal

Move Saft in /Library/InputManagers to Trash and restart Safari.

Finder may say that Saft is in use when trying to empty the Trash. Logout and login again (or restart mac) to solve this problem.

LARRY R  This software is useful when it works but it breaks for every new version of Safari which means each time you have to wait for an update and then when you find one you have to reinstall. Takes too much attention and time. It is just not worth it. I give up.

DAN BUCHAN  Naah.

It really *is* worth it.

But it's still a major pain that every tiny Safari update breaks it.

ROBOTANK  That's because the developer inserts a string in the Saft plist file that tells it not load if Safari's build number exceeds the current one. You can edit the string and "trick" Saft into loading. On the other hand, you could switch to Glims, which, although it sometimes has incompatibilities with new versions of Safari (minor or otherwise), at least it doesn't shut itself down because of a tiny .0.1 update. I used Saft for a while, but this issue as well as the convoluted update process made it more trouble than it's worth.

DAN BUCHAN  Another Safari update....another error that Saft can't load because of the new version. Can there be any way around this for future versions of Saft? A simple x.x.1 update of Safari can't be that major that Saft can't operate, can it? *Should* it?

PSYCHOS  There are a few other pretty good free addons of this type (e.g., Glims), but none of them seem to do quite what Saft does as well as it does, and $12 is quite reasonable for how much time it's saved me with shortcut searches, ad/popup blocking, and some tab stuff.

The developer is extremely responsive, which is always important for any sort of paid software; the new version to fix compatibility with the final version of Safari 4.0 came out within a couple hours of the Safari update.

My one wishlist item would be the ability to remap menu items (e.g., I personally remap keys by editing the MainMenu.nib: Quit to Opt-Cmd-Q, Print to Opt-Cmd-P so I don't accidentally trigger one of those, and left/right tab to Cmd-[ and Cmd-]. Every few updates of Safari, the MainMenu.nib gets replaced and I have to remap these again.)

XENOPHILE  Sweet Jesus, save yourself some time and remap those menu items with OS X's System Preferences! Keyboard & Mouse --> Keyboard Shortcuts.

PSYCHOS  Safari 4 Beta 5528.17 that came out alongside 10.5.7 doesn't seem to work with the latest Saft. I have a feeling that the developer will quite likely fix this in the next few hours as usual (kudos to him for being so quick with updates!), but if anyone knows how to force it to load (if it will) that'd be useful. (Can't find the Safari version string in the Saft files, etc.)

CYBORG9  When I launch Safari 4 beta with Saft installed, my set home page does not appear, just a blank page. Problem solved when I uninstalled Saft.

CYBORG9  Also, when Saft is put in Input Managers folder, neither track pad scrolling on my Macbook pro Intel core 2 duo nor scrolling with my mouse works in Safari 4 beta. Both functions returned after I uninstalled Saft.
