LVSHOOTER   Why not just use OSX's PDF reader "Preview"? You can easily combine PDF's with an app. you already have! Drag & Drop Baby! It's a Mac thing!

SJK  One reason: not everyone's running Leopard.

SIR GADABOUT  Also, it's possible to set up Combine PDFs as a PDF Service. I use it to combine multi-page web reviews into one simple PDF file. AFAIK you can't do this in Preview.app.

However, I'm still using v3.0. I'm not sure whether there are any merits to paying €20 / $30 and upgrading to 4.2 just for this; it was a free app when I started using it.

DANA SUTTON  I don't meant to rain on the parade of a great utility (which I use myself) but it should be noted that in Leopard PDFs can be combined using Preview itself; see MacWorld April 2008, p. 83.

FUNKBOY  Great job on this free utility! It did exactly what I needed it to do; now that Mac OS X 10.5 has this functionality, I will not have to use it, but I was stuck on a 10.4-powered laptop and really needed to combine some pages.

Only two things I could suggest: page numbering, as mentioned by another reviewer, would be sweet, as would the ability for the program to detect where in the list I am dragging and dropping the files. It automatically puts newly dropped files at the end of the list, but it would be nice if it let me insert it between two pages already in the list.

Great job, I owe the developer a mighty large beer.

GREGM  Pile up a list in the box --- hilite one -- then drag-n-drop it to the position you want.

JACK DAW  How about including a page numbering function?

Once the PDFs have been sorted into the desired order, the ability to print the new page numbers would be really cool.

HYPERT  This could NOT have been easier to use! Not only does it let you combine/merge PDFs, but you can see the original filenames and page numbers, re-arrange them, preview pages, AND delete pages.

Very nice job!

JEAN-PIERRE CALLUT  Just wanted to fax 9 separate documents I had scanned. Mac OSX's built-in fax system does not allow to do that in one shot. Then I came across this wonderful app. Just printed the docs as PDFs then merged them. Et voilà !

JRPELAYO  The program does exactly what it says it does...combine PDFs. And who can beat the free price? I love it and use it frequently. This is truly a gem of a program.

MICHAEL_FEY  Excellent program! I love programs that do just one thing well, and this app fits that bill fantastically! I had 5 PDFs with varying orientations and such, and Combine PDFs quite simply "just worked".

The only reason that I'm giving it 4/5 instead of 5/5 is that it wasn't a simple drag and drop install, I had to create a folder for the app and the associated RealBasic file. Other than that one minor thing, it's perfect!

NEIL_M  Frani,

You can. It's called Drag n' Drop.

In fact there are 2 ways.

(1). Pick the file, drag it to the position you want

(2). Use the columns to sort

I would suggest you contact the Developer for things like this, MacUpdate is not a help forum. As always RTFM.

FRANI2001  Great little app for free but I think it could do with one update. It would be good to be able to shift select files to add multiple pdf's at one time then have some up / down organize buttons to arrange the page order.
