DESCRIPTION
Proteus is a chat client that allows you to connect that chat with several of the major chat networks, including ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Yahoo Japan, Rendezvous, and Jabber.
Proteus is currently localized in English, French, German and Traditional Chinese, with more coming.
WHAT'S NEW
Version 4.2.1: Not much different from 4.2... just a new application icon and new protocol icons.
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.4 or later.

CLARUSAD The best IM i've never used ! Today, i'm still using it ; with its add-on Proteus menu (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/15418/proteusmenu), the Mac OS integration is great !

GLOBETROTTERDK Any idea how to make Proteus my default IM? Adium keeps popping up when I click a Twitter chat URL. I am using OS X Tiger.

GFORCE The default messenger is set in the iChat Preferences under general.

MIGUELD Great app, and I've paid for this when it was shareware but it seems it has been abandoned. I hope it's retaken soon, it hasn't received any major updates in a long time. Either that or I can see its death already coming... :-/

MILE I've payed for it anyway, still running a G4 Powerbook...so I think I'll pass on this update until they actually include a few improvements and/or new features...! It's still one of the best multimessenger apps out ther, though...!
