EL_MARIACHI I really like this app, gives clean output all the time (unlike ffmpegx)... but it's no longer being maintained. I'd really like to have batch processing, since most full-length DVD movies are spread out over 4-5 VOB files. Is there anything as good as this that supports batching? (Version 0.8.9)

DIANITA80 I had the same problem with the program quitting on me when I selected GO! from the processing screen. Has anyone gotten this program to work who's running OSX 10.4 or does anyone know of another program like this? (Version 0.8.9)

MACUPDATE ADMIN This app can deal with .vob and .mp4 formats and many more, but I don't know if it is exactly what you need. It's free, anyway. (Version 0.8.9)

DIANITA80 The isquint program is perfect and was so easy to use but apparently now I need to convert the mpeg-4 into one of the following formats: mov, .wmv, .mpg, .mpeg, or .qt (Version 0.8.9)

MRTOTES Not being a video guru I can't find the correct settingsrequired not to get excessive digital noise on my files. I've tried several combinations and don't care about file size. If anyone's got any tips... mrtotes@yahoo.com. cheers (Version 0.8.9)

ANONYMOUS Just for the fun of it, i tested it out on a complete yet incomplete avi as the input file - something quicktime refused to open. After it finished converting the avi to mp4, it worked perfectly in quicktime as if there was never a problem. Also the file size was reduced even more while retaining the same level of quality. THEED small application, somewhat slow encodes, limited number of features. Highest quality mp4 video output anywhere. Compared to other encoders, xvid reigns supreme in quality. File sizes 30% smaller than same quality elsewhere. The denoise, scaling, auto-deinterlacing, and the YUV pipeline make for spectacular video encodes. The ability to crop and scale the viewing frame is the best implementation available. Encodes best with a quantizer setting, letting the encoder adjust bitrate to maintain quality. Doesn't effectively leverage multiple CPU's, so I sometimes run 2 copies simultaneously. Doesn't remember preferences. Doesn't preview encode of video or audio. Could use more audio preview, video encode preview, audio leveling controls, brightness/contrast prefilters, chronological cropping, and time marked bitrate changes. But these can also be done elsewhere. This quality of video encode I have not been able to replicate elsewhere. (Version 0.8.9)

BRET BENZIGER When I'm converting multible VOB files from the same movie, the first one does fine but each one after that has the first two frames garbled in green large pixels. The audio is there, it's just that its volume is very low. It would be nice to have an option where it could combine VOB files. (Version 0.8.9)

ANONYMOUS You may be keeping the ac3 sound from your mpeg. Try opening the file in VLC or MPlayer (Version 0.8.9)

ANONYMOUS This program helped me to convert some VOB files from a Region 4 DVD. I literally tried every other program, and while they would convert the VOBs to .avi format, I really needed something more like what this program does. I've had no problems with the conversions. As for those with the audio problems, the developer's web page says that it currently handles onl ac3 audio. I don't really know what that means, but that may be part of the problem you're experiencing. On the other hand, when I first tried this program, I didn't get audio, either. The key is to select the "audio" tab on the main interface and choose "encode audio." That will then give you a dialog box with several options for determining your desired audio quality. It appears that the audio is otherwise set to "off" by default. Hope that helps. (Version 0.8.9)

ANONYMOUS Try "MPEG Streamclips". I think, it's a great solution to all the problems with openshiiva. (Version 0.8.9)
