DESCRIPTION
XBox HID Driver... With an adapter, the XBox controller (and other XBox peripherals) can be plugged into a PC or Mac's USB port. However, the XBox controller is not HID-compatible, so it is not usable by games or applications without a special driver. For some time, these drivers have been available for Windows and Linux. This driver is the first to support the XBox controller on Mac OS X.

This software installs a kernel extension (driver) that turns the XBox Gamepad into first-class HID citizen. Translation: it will work with any Mac OS X game/application that supports gamepads, including GamePad Companion and SimpleSoft's XGamePad software.

The full source code is available on the project website.

JETFIREDX  Well I am so glad I supported this dev by paying for the driver a couple months ago. Granted, it was only $5 or something but to have it go free now just seems like I wasted my money. Oh well.

SPRINGHEELMAC  I can't seem to get my XBOX controller to work with MacMAME or MAME OS X. Is it compatible? Also, NANNASSY, I couldn't find a 360 driver here, but there is one at Versiontracker.com. (Too bad I don't have a 360 controller!)

ANONYMOUS  Awesome, now I can get carpal tunnel faster! No longer must I only subject myself to the awful design of the glorified penis extension known as the XBox controller when I play Halo 2. Disability check here I come!

ANONYMOUS  I agree, paying for drivers is absurd. The hardware should "just work"

I already paid for it why should I pay again because the company is to lazy to properly implement drivers?

People pay for hardware, no one buys software, and even less people buy drivers.

COANY MUNT  If you were talking about a Logitech Mouse, then I would agree wholeheartedly, however we are talking about hardware designed specifically designed for the Xbox, and built (by design) to be totally incompatible.

MS don't want you to use this on your Mac, surely this is obvious!

ANONYMOUS  Umar: I've been playing Halo with an XBox controller (duh) since its inception, and I destroy everybody. If the driver is sound I'm sure I'll be fine against anybody with or without a mouse. (When you reach a level where you can kill anybody with the minimum shots required for whatever weapon, your reflexes are good enough to compensate for lack of mouse.)

UMAROMC  The computer versions and XBox versions are different in difficulty because of how much more difficult it is to aim with a gamepad- so they made the pc version harder... sorry, thought that was common knowledge...
