DAVEHILL  Doesn't work on Leopard.

[0x0-0x2ec2ec].net.istumbler.release-99 dyld: Symbol not found: __NSConcreteStackBlock

MU Page says it works on 10.3.9+

The older version 98 doesn't work properly on Leopard either.

ISTUMBLER  Leopard is not supported in Release 99, says so on the web site: http://istumbler.net, which also provides links to previous versions.

YOUNKINT  The MacUpdate info doesn't mention that the 99 release works only with Snow Leopard.

DAVEHILL  The older 98 version for Leopard has problems:

The graph display doesn't work or works erratically.

5GHz channels show as "0".

It fills the system log with messages:

iStumbler exception getting radio info: XML parser error:

Unexpected character a at line 1

Old-style plist parser error:

Unexpected ';' or '=' after key at line 1

ISTUMBLER  A version of iStumbler with specific fixes Leopard was not released and is not planned.

Upgrading to SnowLeopard is well worth the $30 if you have an Intel Mac, otherwise I'm not sure why you're expecting just-released software to run on five year old equipment with an outdated OS.

There is very little incentive for software developers to support older OS Versions; users who don't upgrade their OS and hardware periodically have demonstrated that they are not interesting in spending money on software. However, for for some reason, there is a minority that feels entitled to endless updates but is unwilling to take the time to engage with the developers.

ASHKENAZ  Rubbish. While there should be no expectation of continued development or addition to the original feature set after the release of a new operating system, the expectation that the original release not be embarrassingly--at least a responsible developer would be embarrassed--bug-ridden is no less obvious. Shame on the developer for inflicting a buggy mess on his users only to move on at the earliest possible moment.

TAREED  Worked nicely before, but not under 10.6. I e-mailed the author about a six weeks ago and haven't ever gotten a response.

ROBERTCOOGAN  Very handy, very easy to use. Beats AirRadar hands-down. I have used it for quite a while (in conjunction with my WiFire), and it is excellent at determining the accessibility of local signals.

NOHAWK  Has anyone yet found the fix for the accumulation of vast numbers of error messages in /var/log/system.log apparently due to an outdated format being used in a plist file associated with iStumbler when running on a macbook (Leopard)?
