XK13  Really the best CSS editor on the market. Unfortunately it gets a little bit slow with large documents.

QUANDREI  I've been using CSSEdit on a trial basis and agree this is really good piece of software. However, there are a few issues that need to be addressed:

1 - The current sticker price has not changed (29.95 Euros), despite the fact the software is no longer being maintained (according to their website blog) and the last update was done nearly 2 years ago. I think it unreasonable to be asked to pay full price for an outdated, unmaintained software no matter how wonderful it is.

2 - I currently own a license for Espresso. I am not completely blown away by its feature set but it is a decent peice of software. For the sticker price, in my opinion, it is not worth it. It was my hope that, since CSSEdit was being discontinued, and their new product was their main focus, some of the great features in CSSEdit would be incorporated into Espresso. This does not seem to be the case, nor does it look promising for the future.

3 - Finally, their support/customer service is completely lacking. I had sent an email 14 days ago regarding some of these issues (and other more specific questions not mentioned here) and have yet to receive a response.

All in all, despite the great feature set of CSSEdit, I don't think I would buy it just because of the lack of maintenance & support from MacRabbit.

MARKTECH  This is a great bit of software. Once I'd figured out the x-ray and inspector functionality it all snapped into place. As a relative newbie to CSS I'd been struggling with templates and trying to adapt them to my own use. This software made it really obvious what tags applied to what content and made it easy to edit. You can instantly see the results of any changes you make and this helps you understand the CSS itself. Would be great for CSS from scratch as well.

There's not a huge amount of functionality in the software, but what there is works great after a short learning curve.

JOEYA  Easily the best CSS editor on the market. CSSEdit integrates very well with multiple styles of workflow all in one streamlined UI. Hand coders, visual editors and those toggling between both will have an easy time styling sites with real time previews. Simply brilliant software.

The only reason I didn't give this app 5 stars is because support is non existent and the app rarely receives updates. Moreover since MacRabbit is now focused on Espresso, I think CSSEdit is poised to become the ugly stepchild of the MacRabbit family.

KLAGRECA  I have that same fear too, which is a shame because I prefer to use my separate editors for their respective tasks. No one single app does what the separate apps do individually well.

Any word from the MacRabbit people on their outlook for this app?

KRISTINE_NX  I use CSSEdit on almost a daily basis. Its my favorite CSS editor -its only contender, for me, is 'Coda'. A note, MacRabbit is no longer excepting $29.95 USD its now 29.95 Euros.

JAN13   Well so far this app., very much one unknown ... even developer would not like to reply to our email which is not very good. We do not know, if this application is design to hijack other sites or what is that for since demo is useless for testing.

GNDZAPP  Solid app with a sweet interface. My only reason for rating this less than 5 is I don't understand why anyone would pay $30 or more for a CSS-only editor when all-in-one apps like Coda are out there which provide a built in editor for every language (HTML, PHP, JavaScript), and an equally slick interface for CSS. Plus Coda has built FTP transfer, reference books, a built in terminal, etc. Maybe it doesn't have an "X-Ray view" but Coda seems to me by far a better choice for web dev. (Personal opinion)

SEMIOTICMONKEY  nothing beats this at css editing (TopStyle, i look at you).

all the features you need to get the work done in a small, well tought package.

the x-ray window is the right tool for the dynamic pages work. i'm using right now on a velocity-tomcat project and it is a god send. no more firebug and refresh to see the tweaks in real time.

the autocomplete is good and the style preview 'drawer' is a welcome and useful bonus. you can drag and drop styles to arrange them in a organized way (layout, tipography, forms and so on). in this it beats the poor coda's csseditor.

but i have a little remark. i would prefer the option to hide the styles preview drawer.

i bought it before the trial period was over.
