DESCRIPTION

SiteSucker is an application that automatically downloads web sites from the Internet. It does this by copying the site's HTML documents, images, backgrounds, movies, and other files to your local hard drive. Just enter a URL and click a button and SiteSucker can download an entire web site.

SiteSucker can be used to make local copies of your web sites for easy maintenance. SiteSucker can download files unmodified or it can "localize" the files it downloads, allowing you to browse a site off-line.

SiteSucker is donationware (uncrippled shareware). Pay any amount of money SiteSucker is worth to you or use it for free.

WHAT'S NEW
Version 2.3:
  • SiteSucker now requires Mac OS X 10.5.x Leopard or greater.
  • Added a Reset Status command to the Edit menu.
  • The Open File command now properly handles symbolic links.
  • Made Localize the factory default setting for HTML Processing.
  • Added scanning of all table tags for background URLs and links in style attributes.
  • Added RetryErrors.plist to the Application Support folder so that users can specify the errors that trigger a retry.
  • SiteSucker now lets users edit the trust settings of certificates in the Keychain that are invalid or cannot be verified.
  • SiteSucker now replaces existing HTML and CSS files regardless of the Replace Files setting if HTML Processing is set to Localize and the files have not been localized.
  • No longer replace query strings with CRCs when localizing links to JavaScript files.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause SiteSucker to freeze during analysis.
  • Fixed a problem reading Safari bookmarks.
  • Fixed several potential memory leaks.

SSNICKERER  Anyone know if SiteSucker has the capability of downloading FLV files? The manual says it scans SWF files, but FLV files are never downloaded for me...

DOOBIEXX  @dev, since you are nice enough to make this great app free for us, donationware I don't think the $5 price tag should be listed as some members might see that and immediately go to something free when they already can get the best in sitesucker for what you think it is worth... It has saved me hours and hours and pain in my hands lol. Thanks for the great app again!

DRG  Is it me? Every update to this program will not download properly using any version of Camino. Firefox yes, Camino no. And it is the only program I have trouble with.

Anyone else have this problem?

DRG  Well, it must be something else that's interfering with the download then, because every time I download, it's a partial one and the file cannot be extracted. Odd, isn't it?

DINH  I'm looking for an application that can download all the files relating to a website for archiving and evaluation.

This is the only application I found that could successfully download my test website.

After evaluating the following applications, here is my ranking for website archiving:

#1 SiteSucker - The only application to successfully download my test site in entirety. Also the cheapest coincidentally!

#2 DeepVacuum - Almost captured the whole site.. But of course missed the backgrounds and other things which I specifically wanted. Second cheapest ($12).

#3 Web Devil - Downloaded some of the site. The browsers seem half-baked for site archiving, its more for downloading galleries of images it seems. It is the most expensive application ($35).

#4 Blue Crab - Buggy, non-intuitive, and unusable per my previous description. Only file captured after trialing it was a cookies file. Second most expensive app ($25).

JOHNNY ROCKET  Unless I'm missing something, Firefox saves the page your on, not the entire site.

File > Save Page As...

there's an option for Web page, complete

but that's just the page, not the entire site.
