DESCRIPTION

Capture Me is a screen capture and recording utility for Mac OS X which features a floating capture window and resize ability.

Version 1.3 has been rewritten from the ground up using Cocoa and OpenGL so it should be much faster than the previous version. This version is also a universal binary offering equal support for Intel and PowerPC processors.

To use the program, drag and resize the floating window to cover the area you want to capture. Then click in the window to capture the screenshot. You can resize it, copy it to the clipboard, and save it in a variety of formats and locations. Its behavior is customizable with respect to what happens after a capture. A newly added movie recording mode now allows up to a one minute long QuickTime movie (no sound) to be produced.

WHAT'S NEW
Version 1.4.1:
  • [new feature] New traditional Chinese localization by Jerry Lee.
Version 1.4:
  • [new feature] Now has a simple movie capture mode which can record and save a QuickTime movie (no sound) using the MPEG-4 codec.
Version 1.3.2:
  • [new feature] New French localization by Antoine of the Mac-Vidéo forum.
  • [new feature] New Dutch localization by Alexander Henket.
Version 1.3.1:
  • [new feature] Capture window can now be made smaller - 120 x 20 pixels is now the minimum.
  • [new feature] Pressing the arrow keys now moves the window precisely; holding option with an arrow moves it faster.
  • [new feature] New option to directly enter the desired capture size rather than having to resize the window by dragging.
Version 1.3:
  • [other] Rewritten from the ground up in Cocoa & OpenGL.
  • [other] Universal binary - PPC & Intel.
  • [new feature] Much faster screen captures - up to four times as fast in some cases.
  • [new feature] Captures of unlimited size now allowed (previously constrained to 1000 x 700 pixels).
  • [new feature] Option to enable or disable capture sound.
  • [new feature] Proportional down
  • scaling of captures by holding the shift key while resizing the capture window.
  • [new feature] Option to set whether the capture window floats or not.
  • [new feature] Option to automatically hide the capture window after captures when Capture Me is not the front most application.
  • [new feature] Option to automatically copy captures to clipboard.
  • [new feature] Barest beginnings of AppleScript support.
  • [new feature] Slightly improved icon.

HALODEMO002  Neat free recording tool. There is only one down side, it makes laggy shots when you make larger recordings.

µø˜˚´¥  Great app, works well, and you can't beat the price.

One question to the developer(s): why don't you allow capture of more than 60 seconds of video? I know that would be taxing on older machines, but I paid good money for my gigs and gigs of ram - let me use it!

CHIMOOSOFT  A future version will allow longer captures; stay tuned.

People interested in longer recordings should request this via email and a beta will be made available with that option.

SPRINGHEELMAC  Ignore the negative comment below! This app is the BEST screen capture tool I've used. Works for ANYTHING, not just DVDs. Simply open it up, place the re-sizable screen on something and click it. It couldn't be easier! Kudos also for the different formats it allows you to save in. Great job!

SCOTTY2SHOTS  Significant delay between submitting a capture command and the actual image capture. Makes precise screen-grabs difficult on-the-fly and time consuming using pause on DVD Player.

ANONYMOUS  Working well for me and my Tiger. Just one thing... when I tried to save it as uncompressed TIFF, the pictures won't show. Otherwise the BMP files are working alright. Good job.
