DESCRIPTION

Intaglio is a traditional Macintosh drawing & illustration application exclusively for Mac OS X. Patterned after the original Macintosh drawing applications, Intaglio is intuitive to beginners and familiar to traditional Macintosh users. Intaglio builds on the 2D graphics, text, color, and scripting capabilities of Mac OS X to provide unprecedented power and flexibility in an inexpensive drawing program. Intaglio isn't just compatible with with Mac OS X, it was designed from the ground up to fully exploit the capabilites that make this platform ideal for graphics work. Naturally Intaglio is great for casual users, but it is also an ideal tool for experienced graphics experts who need special features or want a simpler experience than what is provided by the usual multi-platform graphic franchises. You can download and try Intaglio in demo mode before you purchase it.

Intaglio works with yesterday’s software as well as today’s. Intaglio will convert old drawings from ClarisDraw and MacDraw II to Quartz graphics so you can continue to use your old work. You can also convert PICT images saved by any classic QuickDraw application. Of course Intaglio also supports the popular image formats today including PDF, EPS, SVG, and many bitmap file formats such as JPEG, PNG, and TIFF. You can drag graphics out of Intaglio and drop them directly into most modern applications such as Apple’s iWork suite. Because Intaglio also converts modern formats such as PDF and SVG, you can frequently drag another application’s graphics into Intaglio for editing and drag the modified graphics back to the original application.

For more information, please visit the Intaglio website.

****.

DREMWKR  Overall, the program does well in basic drawing functions, easy to use, and does most things well, however, it is a bubble off for top marks, exactly for the problems identified by previous users, and I agree 100% with the last reviewer, he is on the mark.

In regards to pricing: For a basic drawing program 39 USD is about right, and for this program that is about right. Its current pricing is for a Prosumer level program, and it just doesn't make it there. I already paid for the program once for v2.97, and it says upgrade price is $39 more, but there is no upgrade option in the online store. Just full price. To me that sounds like bait and switch at worst, and bad site design in the least.

I suggest the developer has some explaining to do. This review site would be a good start.  (Version 3.0.1)

M-RICK  I don't see any improvement in the drag and drop the library.

Libraries can now be exported/imported

but it is still laccking of the following anyway :

- Snapping much be improved, when starting to draw from a point, it is not highlited, no way to force a perdicular from any line or drawing to any line, no tangent, no parallels tool.

- Snapping to intersection, middle, extremity works only when it is the destination point, but not when it is the initial drawing point.

- No Snapping enabling with a modifier key.

- No linked dimensions.

- No dimensioning tool like area or perimeter, no dimensioning style settings.

- No numeric input for objects.

- No B-Spline.

- When applying effect to image or vectors they are downscaled in bitmap objects ...

- If a scale has been set for the current document, the objects dragged from the library to the document are not adjusted to the current scale of the document ...  (Version 3.0)

BLUEPOLO  This is so close to being such a good application. But that makes it soooo infuriating!

Set the scale, draw your plan.

Save, close.

Reopen.

All meaurements are now totally bogus.

Create new file. Copy and paste from old (bogus) into new. Measurements show OK, until you close.

Doh!  (Version 2.9.7.1)

M-RICK  It is a very good software but it is lacking of this :

- Snapping much be improved, when starting to draw from a point, it is not highlited, no way to force a perdicular from any line or drawing to any line, no tangent, no parallels tool.

- Snapping to intersection, middle, extremity works only when it is the destination point, but not when it is the initial drawing point.

- No Snapping enabling with a modifier key.

- No linked dimensions.

- No dimensioning tool like area or perimeter, no dimensioning style settings.

- No import/export symbol collections.

- No numeric input for objects.

- No B-Spline.

- When applying effect to image or vectors they are downscaled in bitmap objects ...  (Version 2.9.7.1)
