TICONUCK  Best app of its kind I can find. I love the flexibility in composing cards. It wouldn't hurt to have an alternative, simpler entry mode, e.g. with a question field and an answer field. But I wouldn't give up the flexibility offered by the ability to enter text and images, format them freely, and simply enclose the answer in one kind of brackets, and the question in another type. I also leave some things unenclosed in any brackets, so that they always come up before the card is flipped, and other things I enclose in both brackets, so they never come up before the card is flipped (you can set it to alternate randomly between showing you the answer first, or the question first, which is what I do.)

The only thing lacking is that there are a lot of characters that you cannot enter (e.g. for linguistics notation and modern languages), and I find I have to work around that by pasting screenshots of these characters (typed and appropriately formatted in another application) into the text (and adjusting the vertical alignment (using "nudge up"/"nudge down") so they appear to be part of the body of text. (Of course I only do this when I really, really want the characters in there.)

TICONUCK  Also, it would be great to be able to define some custom templates. There are a few other minor tweaks that also could be made. But I understand the app isn't being actively developed. So maybe someone else will come along and make a similar app incorporating the strengths that this one has (that I can't find in any other), but improving on the weaknesses in the ways I have suggested.

And maybe, just maybe, it will be made possible to import one's Studycard files into that app. And then I will buy that app. And then I will live happily ever after, and never be sad ever again, and life will be perfect.

SARTIN77  I used this program for my 3rd grade son's vocab work. Also copied the "Teach Your Baby to Read" method of Glen Doman with my 3 and 4 year olds and I'm seeing great results there as well. I'm not much of a computer person so to speak, but I was able to make simple cards just the way I wanted them.

I didn't see a way to black out the background in the program. I would have appreciated that feature so that my sons aren't distracted by the other things on my desktop, but I just worked around that with "Think".

DHARBIGT  Despite the claims made on the website about foreign language support, the support for this product is lousy. Worldtext is obsolete and anyone using updated versions of OS X will have lots of problems with foreign language text if it's in a non-Latin alphabet. This is because the author (despite promises to the contrary) is not interested in adding Unicode support to this product.

I bought the full version hoping to support the author so that he would continue to work on this project, but there hasn't been an update for quite some time, and even then, the support seems to be primarily for PalmOS, which is of no use to me.

- Cutting and pasting from Safari or TextEdit or other applications doesn't work

- Centering and other formatting doesn't work properly

- Import for Unicode files is not available

- Unicode export doesn't include the entire card text and is broken

- Cards shared with a friend (who also bought the full version) come up garbled and useless

I've specifically had problems with Chinese, Hebrew and Russian. The Hebrew I can understand, but as far as the other products, the author has been apathetic and/or unresponsive.

If you're learning a romance language or German or something other than foreign language, this product has an excellent featureset and works well with only occasional (but frustrating) crashes. I'd recommend this software highly if it lived up to its advertisement as an excellent foreign language teaching aid. The fact is, that it is a frustrating foreign language teaching aid for foreign scripts.

KEITH  I have only used the Lite version, but will purchase the regular today. This program is very professionally done, both the well written manual and the applicaiton. I was looking for a native Mac app which was simple and had spaced learning. This program is great and highly recommended.

CHRISTIAN SCHMITT  Hello, I am a medicine student. I use to work with Studycard Studio Pro 2.4 for at least 2 hours daily since September 2004. It runs very stable and I haven't found any bugs yet. With Studycard I managed to get through all exams and tests in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, Anatomy and Psychology. I will go on working with Studycard. It's really a great program.

ANONYMOUS  Were you using an older version? The one I just downloaded has the option to import text files into cards, though that may be one of the demo features that you need to upgrade to have perminantly.

QUIZKID  Thank you, studycard studio!

I have been struggling with flashcards for studying German. This software is perfect -- I can create vocabulary cards, grammar drills, the works.

Everything works just like they say it will! I've tried nearly every format - quiz, multiple choice, etc... very easy to use. I love the "interval" option which presents learned cards in another section according to a schedule you write. Great for reinforcing learning.

Options I would like to see added in a future upgrade: I'd like to be able to create cards by importing a table of Q's and A's, and I'd like to be able to check for duplicate cards - maybe by being able to alpha-sort the cards by Q or A.
