DESCRIPTION

FootTrack is iPhoto for your digital video. Catalog all your digital video tapes, then easily find the clips you want. Compress your footage to be able to permanently store your footage on your hard drive.

Whether you are planning a movie or just want to show someone some footage you taped, FootTrack makes it easy to find and keep track of all your footage.

This app will also help any iMovie/Final Cut user find the clips they want when they are putting together or planning a movie.

WHAT'S NEW
Version 2.4:
  • You can generate iMovie 08 events and clips from within FootTrack. It will create reference movies from your original clips so they can be used within iMovie 08 while you continue to catalog your clips within FootTrack. Choose 'File -> Export to iMovie 08' to try out this new feature.
  • Fixed a bug where the image thumbnails would end up being small when importing clips on Leopard.
  • Fixed a bug where if you split an anamorphic non-DV clip the new split clip would not be marked as anamorphic.
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.3 or later.

ARISTOPHANES  Excellent product for DV import. Keeps metadata and allows for keyword and grouping. Syncs very nicely with iMovie and FCP on the critical information. Comprehensive and smartly done program by someone who knows their stuff about video. This is one of the best "sleeper" programs for video on the Mac. Anyone who needs a great DV video cataloguing program should have this.

WYMAN13  This looks interesting but why no posts either positive or negative since Feb 2005?

This is late November 2007.

I find that quite odd.

Anyone with some recent feedback?

CHAD PURVIANCE  I just got the G5 after editing on a PC for a few years. I was using iView on the PC and it was ok so i was looking at just upgrading to a Mac version when Ken Stone mentioned this app. So I tried it.

Wow, impressive little app for cataloging tapes with timecode and quickly finding what I was looking for. The author was quick to answer my questions and politely pointed out how to turn on the feature I was asking him to add. :-) bought it the next day, logged 10 tapes and now I can actually find what i am looking for.

TERRY ADAMS  Before undertaking the somewhat gigantic task of organizing 50 DV tapes, I decided to take the top dogs in this class of apps out for a run around the block with 5 tapes.

I tried out iDive, iVideo, and FootTrack, and I have used iViewMediaPro for a long time, but FootTrack was the winner for features, flexibility, ease of use and cost.

If you have a digital camera, you should have this app. It is that simple.

Download it and try it out. The demo works great, 2 tapes with up to 100 segments. I captured one, and imported one imovie project, and headed straight for the buy it button.

Standout options for me....

Very active developer

Ability to import footage already captured in iMovie projects

Superior flexibility in groups and nested keywords

Best Demo Functionality

Very comprehensive compression options for keeping a smaller copy around. I have 5 hours on a CD with full search and more!

THOMAS MOHME  Nice Product.

Far better suited for my archiving & organizational needs than everything else I found (including iDive).

Yet some room for improvements.

Good contact to responsive Developer.

ROBERT REES  This has become an indispensible tool for cataloguing and reviewing my 80+ collection of DV tapes. It works extremely well with Final Cut (producing batch capture lists which enable me to quickly and easily capture only the footage I want to use in a project). The developer provides very prompt feedback, and is very recpetive to suggestions for improving the application. v2 seems very stable and adds a number of useful features, including anamorphic support. All in all, thoroughly recommended.

ERIC V  Foottrack it the ultimate clip catologing application there is. The updates are regular, the support is amazing. This program is very mac-like, meaning it is fast, easy, reliable, and logical. If you do video, get this before it is too late.
