LIFLI SOFTWARE  2.0 is a FREE update for all registered users of the 1.x version. This means that if you already bought a license key earlier then the same registration information will work in the 2.x version.

Users of the free .Mac version of iBlog have a buy a license key for the 2.0 version.

2.0 version imports data from the 1.x version and uses a different set of folders for saving the application data. So you can safely try out the 2.0 version while using 1.x version for production blogs.

ROBERTS2424  In previous versions this program has never lived up to its promise. Who can even believe it's still around? Do yourself a favor and look at other options including WordPress. It will be far less painful.

    ***..

TDSANCHEZ  I tried to purchase it today (12/27/05) and have experienced a number of problems with the software vendor and their third party merchant services provider, CCAvenue.

The primary complication in purchasing this software is that Lifli will only accept Rupees (dumb!) and, thus, you must use a credit card. I did that, using a platinum select card at that, and the purchase was shown to be declined by CCAvenue, yet, when I contacted my credit card provider, they stated they approved the purcahase.

To add insult to injury, during a live chat trying to resolve this, I was treated as if I had done something wrong and/or was as if I was some kind of clueless loser with a maxed out credit card.

Now Lifli and CCAvenue have my personal information (via the verification process for the card), and valuable marketing information, and I have a worthless piece of software that I can't do anything with because I can't purchase it with a credit card that I use daily.

68KMLA  Stupidly, I paid for this app about a year ago, found that it doesn't handle most of the things that Wordpress (free web-based alternative) does (built-in RSS, Atom, podcasting feeds, feeds for separate topics, ability to post to blog from the web or an application, etc.)

Now I go to the site and find this:

"All 1.x updates are free to registered users and users of the dot mac version of iBlog."

So I assume this means that version 2 will cost current users to upgrade. What a joke. This guy had such a big chance from Apple, getting distributed on iDisk and publicity on .mac, but he never took advantage of it, instead choosing to let the program rot while other free alternatives pass it by.

What a load of crap, there's no way I'll be paying for another version of this dog of a program. Version 2 should be a free upgrade, just to somewhat make up for all the crap that iBlog users have had to deal with up till now.

As far as managing a blog, it fails miserably, with cryptic titles/file names for everything, making it impossible to take care of unless you do everything through the app's interface. Limited customizability, no built-in comments, I could go on, but I'd rather point you to wordpress.org or b2evolution.net and hope that other power users become aware of just how limited this app really is.

PETER LARS JENSEN  Well I'm writing in Danish, which have some "strange" letters in the alphabet and I have never had any problems regarding that. I have been using iBlog for some years now and cannot at all recognize the negative criticism seen in a lot of the reviews below. Has anyone of you ever used the application? It is so easy to get started and going and the end result are great. Sure I have had some wishes for the further development and still have, but the overall rating of it better than average. I have tried e.g. Wordpress and no that does not do it for me. It might be free but it isn’t close to the easiness of iBlog. I’m blogging several times a week and have done so with iBlog since 2003 and I have not seen a none web-based app yet that can do the same as well as this.

68KMLA  if you need help with Wordpress, go to wordpress.org and search.

if you want a desktop app you can blog with, use ecto. It's a ton better than iBlog and will let you blog to almost any blog service out there.

Good luck converting your posts, though. iBlog makes a mess of things.

G MAN  Ok Application, reasonably functional. Has some text formatting issues, and could be so much better if the developer was to really push the envelope

Here is a tip, if you want some pointers on how to make this application so much better, take a look at BlogWave Studio! Espeacially as the developer of said application seems to have gone AWOL, which could only mean a possible new market for you!

SO GET CODING. Make this application standout from all the rest of the sub-standard text editor blog apps!
