DESCRIPTION
Classic Window Management gives you the option to have windows in Mac OS X behave like they did in Mac OS 9, where all of an application's windows stayed grouped together. So when you click on one window, all windows belonging to that application come to the front.

The Classic Style Window Layering is particularly useful in the Finder. Normally, in OS X, when you click on the Desktop you switch to the Finder but none of its windows are brought forward. With CWM, all open Finder windows are brought to the front, just like they were in OS 9. (This was actually the primary motivation behind this project!)

But the OS X Way can be useful! CWM gives you the choice of which layering style you want to use as a default - Classic or OS X. And you can set a modifier key you can use to invoke the alternate style. So you can enjoy Classic Style but still be able to bring just a single window forward when you need it. Or using OS X Style, windows freely interleave, but a modified click lets you easily bring all of an application's windows to the front when you want to. It's the best of both worlds!

HAM JAVELIN  This is a great app! However, I don't think it works with Panther (10.3). When I click on the desktop, no open Finder windows come to the front. Is an update in the works?

ANONYMOUS  This haxie is awesome. Just as an example, let's say I have my browser window filling up almost the entire screen, but I want to get to an open finder window that's behind the browser. All I have to do is click on the desktop to bring that finder window, and any others, to the front. I can't see a reason not to use it, and it's definitely easier to have it than not.

ANONYMOUS  I'm not sure what the point of this program is. Doesn't it just duplicate what happens when you click the application icon in the dock?

UMAROMC  Very cool idea... unfortunately for the processes involved here (installing CWM) I'd rather click on the respective app's icon in the dock- it accomplishes the same thing.

ANONYMOUS  Much better when set to 'include' than 'exclude', but it does the job either way. Finally, clicking on the desktop does the Right Thing again.
