DESCRIPTION

EasyFind is an alternative to or supplement of Spotlight and finds files, folders or contents in any file without the need for indexing. This is especially useful if you are tired of slow or impossible indexing, outdated or corrupted indices or if you are just looking for features missing in the Finder or Spotlight.

Highlights:

  • Boolean operators, wildcards, phrases
  • No indexing, search immediately
  • Finds invisible files and files inside packages (which Spotlight doesn't search)
  • Displays the location of each file in a separate column
  • Provides contextual menus and services
  • Supports drag-and-drop
  • Very responsive due to multithreading
  • Uses little memory

SILIZIUM  Since Finder Search becoming crap and finds nearly nothing anymore, EasyFind became important for me.  (Version 4.0.1)

DANA SUTTON  This Devon giveaway is a terrific application (now all I need is to figure out how to disable Spotlight). Only one suggestion for improvement: it would be great to have a menu icon so the user wouldn't have to dig around to launch EasyFind (but if you are using Devon's equally great XMenu that's not so much of a problem).  (Version 4.0.1)

MUBARIK  EasyFind is a very good app. You can find anything in your machine even you can manage and localize what do you want to find.

And its free!

Thanks to the developer.  (Version 4.0.1)

DRDUL  A follow-up to my earlier post...

I heard back from the developer, who explained that the file type drawer is only used for searches of file contents (the fourth option under "Search for"). For the other three types of searches, it has no effect.

The way to restrict the other searches to specific file types is to include the file extension in the search. For example, to find a Word a document with "foo" in the name, enter "foo doc" in the search box. To find a PDF with "foo" in the name, enter "foo pdf." The downside of this approach is that you can only search for one file type at a time — it doesn't work to enter "foo doc pdf" in an effort to search for Word files and PDFs.  (Version 4.0.1)
