ANDREWM8  iClock 3.05 doesn't work on Snow Leopard on my iMac

I have iClock 3.04b3 on my MBP and this one works perfectly with Snow Leopard. Lucky me I didn't update it.

Is there any way for us who don't want to pay for Pro version to get the 3.04b3 version download somewhere?

PENGMAN  I disagree with previous comments about bloatware.

I have been using iClock Pro for quite awhile now and while I have one small complaint about Floating Clocks fonts (the size keeps changing on my iMac) the program has proven itself IMHO.

I find this a good product.

PMFINE   I do not work for software vendor - just a long time user of the older iClock for over 5 years with no problems so decided to upgrade.

While this is still in beta, 1.0bb21 is performing solidly and adds even more useful features than before.

The integration with iCal is very clever and it is easy to control how you want both the date and the time to look in the menu bar each with its own colors and fonts and format, etc.

My one suggestion if you too are considering the upgrade, is to make sure you completely delete the previous version . This can only be done by doing a restart after you drag the app to the trash. Short of that, some parts of the program stay loaded so this is important to do based on my own experience.

Compliments on this upgrade and one very feature rich program!

MAC5  I would hardly be reading your reply if my email address had changed, which it hasn't in the last 26 years.

I stand by by comments regarding iClock Pro, and would post similar comments on other apps I had been using for a number of years that I felt were both over priced and perhaps no longer value for money.

iClock had enough to satisfy most Mac users without adding additional features which included a hefty $20.00 fee. These are my personal feelings, and it remains a useful alternative to the basic Apple date & time.

Good luck with iClock Pro.

JULIAN MILLER  hi norman,

i clicked on your comment on macupdate to see your name and used that to check in our database of users and do not see you in there at all. you may have bought it a long time ago. we have been updating and upgrading iclock for over a decade. back in the last century we did not even know to keep peoples email addresses. still you must have bought an update a few years ago.

perhaps we don't have your email because mail to your isp was bounced or because you have it go thru one of those stop spam security sites that requires a capcha (which unfortunately we can't spend out days filling out so that people get their email) or perhaps when you bought from us you opted to not receive mailings, etc. there are lots of reasons people don't get email from us.

we actually try hard to reach everyone in different ways. we do love sending out updates to people if we have their email and they receive email.

i am not saying your email has a problem. if you have had the same email for 26 years, which means in 1983 way ahead of us :) and it works fine then i am sure its fine. we are not perfect but i would like to know why you are not in our records at all. it may be that you bought under another name.

also and maybe most important you think its $20 to upgrade and its not. its $20 to buy iclock but previous owners can contact us for a coupon to upgrade with. contact me at julian @ scriptsoftware.com without the spaces if you want.

we appreciate your comments and we really do appreciate your being an owner of iclock in those early days.

thanks

julian

ps we like improving iclock and it is a continuing project. its not just a clock. its a time hub. that is how it will continue to evolve.

MAC5  I agree with the bloatware comment.. I used this fine little app for a number of years when it was simply iClock. Once it became iClock Pro and they asked for another $20.00 for a few added features, I gave it away. I now use another similar app which is much easier to use and does a similar job.

They all eventually get greedy, but they also forget that there is such a thing as choice for many similar types of applications. Some are even free.

iClock Pro is much too labor intensive, with too many add ons that most of use have no need of on a day to day basis.

JULIAN MILLER  It sounds like you changed your email address andare not on our mailing list anymore.

When we started on iClock Pro we offered it while in beta for $5 then $10 then $15 for many months before getting to the present $20. We do have a coupon for previous users and they can always contact us if they are interested in upgrading.

There is a lot of work in iClock. Many years by a number of people so yes we do charge for it. That supports the ongoing development and there is a lot more coming.

Thanks for the good feedback.

**...

FRANKP  Early versions of this product were good. Unfortunately the developer(s) decided to make it bloatware by incorporating a lot of things that aren't needed in a menu bar clock, such as stock prices.

In the process of upgrading, they dropped some really basic things, like being able to add many cities to the clock list. I haven't been able to add Dubai or Abu Dhabi since the redesign.

JULIAN MILLER  we added stocks because many users requested it. it only adds a few k to the size of the app is non invasive (you need option click the time menu to access it) and doesn't slow the app. it is a new feature but because it was wanted, doesn't get in the way at all or slow down the computer is not bloat. i can understand if you don't use it much neither do i but those who do love it.

to add cities (we often call it locations or time zones) just click the edit locations/time zones button in time menu:menu items or in the floating clocks parts of the iclock prefs. it has been changed but its much easier to use then it was previously.

thanks for the good feedback. we are always trying to make it better.

SYZZYGY  I sent an iClock Pro trouble report to support@scriptsofware.com and got no reply.

I then posted the issue in their forum, and got no response.

I do think that iClock Pro is the bees knees when it works smoothly.....which is not that often, however, Scriptsoftware's support really sucketh in my experience.

I really do hope that they get their act together and provide user friendly support and finally, a smooth working, bug free iClock pro.

MREDRUP  To anyone thinking of purchasing this whilst still in beta, I would suggest you wait. I made the purchase and at this point I couldnt regret it more. It doesnt work 99% of the time. The time function continually unchecks it's self right after I check it. There isnt any help from the developer and subsequent beta versions are very infrequent. It's been about a month since the last one. Before making your choice go to the support forums on the developers website and you'll see how he has no interest in what people are posting.

JULIAN MILLER  thanks for the feedback.

the best method is to email me direct. we do what we can to see posts by people but as you know that means visiting macupdate, iusethis, versiontracker, download.com, etc.... not to mention our folder and the google docs we maintain. so we don't instantly see that. the forums are mainly for users sharing knowledge. please email me if you have an issue.

thanks

MUMEMBER  I downloaded this calendar but it doesn't seem to do much. I have 2 birthdays marked in June and there's no color change or anything special on the calendar that would let me know those days are special. I can't find the makers or support on the Web, hence my comments here. I googled iclock pro mini calendar and got 3rd party salesmen, but no maker of this calendar. That's weird.

JULIAN MILLER   the big calendar does show a cupcake with a calendar icon.

in the mini cal it does nothing at present. we could add it but the thinking was to keep it simple.

we are easy to find.

http://www.scriptsoftware.com

on macupdate. its easy to find the link to a developers site on the softwares page. just click on the developers name which is a link.

there is also links in the software in the iclock sys pref panel to the manual, bug reports, our sites and others useful things.

let us know if you think the small calendar should indicate events but be aware there is not much space there for an event much less many events.

thanks

THUS.SPAKE.Z  With 1.0 b17 iClock Pro now works beautifully (at least it does for me).

It's nice to see the developer finally conscientious about fixing bugs....a far cry from iClock's earlier incarnation of several years ago when, bug ridden, it would languish forever unattended to.

IClock Pro is now a joy to use.
