DESCRIPTION
DVDBackup is intended to let you exercise your "fair use" rights under copyright law to either "time-shift" or "space-shift" DVD content which you may have purchased legitimately. An example of time-shifting would be to temporarily store the data from a DVD you rented so as to watch it at a later time after you have returned the disc (and avoided late fees!). An example of space-shifting would be to copy one or more DVD discs to your laptop hard drive so as to watch them while on a long airplane flight. A final usage of DVDBackup would be to allow you to modify or excerpt sections of DVD video and audio to create your own movies.
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.1 or later.

SQUIGLES  It would appear that the Film Companies have done something new to the DVD's. Refuses to decrypt VOB_1_03 & 4 :-(  (Version 1.3)

ANONYMOUS  I found this program to be amazing, and yes you may experience problems with it not wanting to copy the dvd. Just run the dvd for a second or two in apples DVD player to verify it then quit DVD player and run DVDBackup. All files will then copy.

Also look at Popcorn for compressing large DVD Images (after using backup) and burn to a regular 4.7 DVD-R or -RW  (Version 1.3)

GIL  It does not work no more properly with MacOS Tiger (10.4.2). I tried with several DVD's and it refuses to see and extract the VOB files, except the first, the second and the last one. For instance, if the DVD has VOB files like: VTS_01_0.VOB to VTS_01_6.VOB, only VTS_01_0.VOB, VTS_01_1.VOB and VTS_01_6.VOB are visible in the window and extracted. Before it worked just fine. It is a pity since the program is simple and was very efficient. Maybe a small revision will fix the problem!  (Version 1.3)

JCRUZ  It worked fine, but the best is MacTheRipper. Try for yourself and know the lies.  (Version 1.3)
