DESCRIPTION

Application Wizard provides easy access to your applications, documents and pictures.

Application Wizard lets you quickly open, quit, show and hide applications, open them automatically at startup and force them to open using Rosetta, turn single application mode on and quit background-only applications and the Finder.

With Application Wizard you can also navigate volumes and frequently used folders to quickly open enclosed items, easily access favorite files, recent folders, Address Book contacts and your iPhoto or Aperture library, preview images, music, movies and PDF files, copy pictures and display slideshows, view the metadata associated with files and check system memory usage.

  • A bug causing type selection to be inactive in the Applications pane and Applications panel lists has been fixed.
  • A bug that could cause Application Wizard to crash under particular circumstances when buttons were dragged out of the menu panel or menu bar has been fixed.
  • On Leopard, the System Memory submenu has been rearranged so that it shows physical memory allocation and page ins and outs consistently with Activity Monitor.

ROBOTANK  I'm very impressed with this so far. There are so many application switcher and launcher utilities out there, but this is by far the most configurable and feature-rich contextual menu-based one that I've seen. I love the ability to map the menus to global hot keys. I use Steer Mouse to map these keys to extra buttons on my Logitech MX Revolution, so Application Wizard's menus can be brought up with a single click anywhere on the screen. Also, I really appreciate the way the developer has set up the trial version of this app. You can use it for 15 days with no restrictions and no nag screens. This is how shareware should be demoed--it allows you to really evaluate all the features of the app for a reasonable time period with the added bonus of not being harassed for money until you've had a chance to decide if you want to spend it. I'll probably buy this before the trial period is over.

ESPIRIDION  It's interesting to see other people's suggestions. I have Butler and even donated money for it a long time ago. For me it has not been a Application Wizard replacement.

I tried Quicksilver a few times, but it's no longer in my system.

I just checked aLunch. Looks like a nice and free application launcher, but Application Wizard does quite a bit more than that.

You can navigate through volumes and folders, preview files, and more.

I mainly use it to launch and quit multiple applications at once, and to organize "sets" of applications depending of the tasks I'm going to do and the applications I need. For example, I have an "Office" set, "Internet" set, "Email" set, etc.

Price is reasonable and many updates have been frequent and free.

Highly recommended.

MARK_CAIRNS  Absolutely superb as always. Is rock solid on everything from an old speed-bumped G4 to a new Mac Pro, all running 10.38 at time of writing. Couldn't live without it now.

MARK_CAIRNS  Loved the original QuitCSM control strip for OS9 for many years; this evolution is just on another level. MabaSoft just know how to write these invaluable little applications and the QUIT ALL command in this one is something I couldn't live without; but then he's bundled all those other new features from v1.4 onwards; v1.5 adds some more things from the QuitCSM days but it's even better now. Money well spent!

EPC  I'm glad to see this update. Some previous versions stopped working on my computer, so I'm glad to see this update. The ability to quit background-only applications is a plus. For example, since installing Panther I can't quit PTH Pasteboard, and now I can with Application Wizard. I also like the ability to quit many applications at once, plus the quick access to many items (e.g., applications, system preferences, etc.) I have been using other programs that have similar functionality, but prefer Application Wizard's unobtrusive nature, and quick rendering of menus/submenus.

CHUCKWAGEN  Great features on this first release. Ability to "quit all", and handy submenus are convenient. However, buttons are somewhat slow to appear when hid, and even at the bigger size are hard to select. Very stable on my iBook.
