DESCRIPTION
iVisit is a multi-party Internet video chat application that brings people together to enjoy face-to-face communication via their personal computers. Meeting online to exchange real-time video, audio and text messages requires only an Internet connection, iVisit software and a digital video camera (models widely available today for approximately $50-100).
WHAT'S NEW
Version 3.7.2:
  • The main change from previous versions is the addition of audio/video messaging capabilities. This allows you to send short audio/video clips to other users without opening a live connection. The audio/video file is sent directly from you to the other person, without passing through a server. This means that you must both be logged on before the transfer will occur. Once you send the message, iVisit will watch for the earliest chance to transfer it. For best performance, you should leave iVisit logged on all the time.
  • To send an audio/video message push the new "camera" button on the remote video window. When you let the button up, the recording will be sent. Optionally, a dialog will open and give you the opportunity to cancel. The first time you receive and audio/video message from a certain user, you choose whether to receive all or block all messages from that user.
  • If you send a message to someone running an older version of iVisit, it will create a link in their chat window to receive and open it like an ordinary file transfer.
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.2 or later, QuickTime 6.5.2 or later.

SPLUNK23  Its still pretty weak compared to apps like CamFrog.

Its in dire need of a makeover now, as its so dated.

The incompetent morons running it don't do it any favours either.

MAC0852  This is garbage and run by buffoons with zero clue about what constitutes real customer service. Often being rude towards paying users instead.

And evidently little work is put in by the developer these days, which hardly helps matters.

That is why iVisit has next to no users anymore, and is now superseded by programs like camfrog ( www.camfrog.com ) which is far more advanced compared with ivisit.

Logged in iVisit users = 600 at best. Logged in Camfrog users = 70'000+. So they must be doing something right that ivisit clearly is not.

While im here: MacJoker. The joke is on you as it is obvious you are directly associated with ivisit too, just like cowzilla, as no users would be retarded enough to give this rubbish 5 stars.

Btw, its "excellent" with 2 L's.

iVisit needs consigning to history and deserves no stars and no awards.

Even the perverts dont use it anymore! Thats how bad it is. lol

iVisit shot itself in the foot and is going down....................

REDLAC  Earlier comments on "perverts" at iVisit is goofy... it's impossible to stumble across the "Adult Neighbourhood" at iVisit. A person has to ask at their Help Desk for particulars on accessing that area. So Bloodhound... you get what you seek!

iVisit offers a Help Desk staffed day and night by people from around the world who are happy to help. Where else do you find that?

COWZILLA  There is a lot of slander here and very poor "opinions" not true reviews of the iVisit application. Sad to see such a great app being bashed by people who haven't truly learned all there is to know.

For me personally iVisit is a wonderful video conferencing communication tool that I use both personally to see/hear my family abroad as well as for business use. It's a great cross platform app working well on both my Macbook (Intel) and PCs. So many excellent features, video, audio, text chat, group conference rooms or private connections, file sharing, web sharing, screen sharing, instant messaging on or offline, file transfer, drag-n-drop streaming of MP3 and movie files, conference recording and more. For me it's a do-all application that works just great! In fact, I've been using it for 6 years now and yes, I have tried all the alternatives out there

They offer a Free Lite Account and a Paid Plus Account with quite a few additional features unlocked. See their web site side by side comparison:

    M. LUTHER  7-8 years ago when iVisit was beta and then the 1.0 version was released, it was a great app. Of course, most folks only had dial-up back then, so you got like 0.1 fps, but audio was very good. It was still very cool. PC folks had a lot of compatibility issues, but that will always be the case. The program just worked on the Mac.

Today you have free programs like iChat AV and SightSpeed for videoconferencing, which produce very good results with broadband everywhere, and they are constantly being updated. iVisit looks the same and has the same basic features as it did 7 years ago, except now you gotta pay $50/yr to use it. Not only that, it has become populated with perverts and the type of people willing to use their CC for pron sites. It's sad to see this piece of software stuck back where it was years ago and for its online community to tranform into what it is today.

Even when iChat first came out many Mac users (myself included) still promoted iVisit as the premiere videoconferencing solution for the Mac. In the past couple of years I don't think I have seen one person recommend iVisit as an alternative for videoconferencing.

only the adult part is having users, but not the kind of ppl i wanna chat/video with.

lookin for an decent person to chat with is to hard as there almost none.

it could have been an great application but by the lack of users its not interesting at all.

and certainly not worth my 50 $
