FRODO_LIFE  hm face recognition is pretty average and very unreliable comes up with many wrong faces even after training 100 pics or so.

Also for people with bigger libraries it's a lot of work the tag the faces and pics.

took some shoots with my Iphone and pictures taken in the same office give two quite different geo tag addresses.

in my opinion not worth buying the update.

KERNELPANIC  I tried iPhoto 09 today and it looks great. especially with new faces recognition feature and maps. However unless your camera or iphone has a GPS module, it'll be very hard to pinpoint the exact location of your photo, because you're only allowed to select from an autocomplete dropdown list of known locations. Smaller places are not on the list. Even when typed in a county name and google map appeared below, I was unable to move the marker to a desired location. what a shame.

I will have to agree with IGREG. Apart from iphoto, which is the default photo manager for my macbook pro I don't use any other iLife product.

IGREG  It is time to start selling these apps separately as well. The only one I have any use for is iPhoto. I bet there are a lot out there who only use iPhoto. Sell iPhoto for about $35 and I will upgrade from 08 to 09.

    ****.

BM1  I love all the new features in iLife'06 but it's very very unstable.

iMovie HD: This app wont even start up. I've deleted everything on my computer concerning iMovie and reinstalled several times. I've also repaired all my disk permissions as well. Still this app will not run. I loads 80 percent of the "new project" and then crashes. did the same thing on existing projects too.... I hope there is a update soon. Anyone else having this issue???

Garageband: This app runs fine until you push the media button on the right side of the window... Then smoke starts billowing out and the engine starts to sputter then.... BAM... CRASH!

iWeb: This is amazing. I have not had any issues with this application at all. I didn't read any instructions and built a new website in 20 min. Good Job Apple (1 out of 5 isn't bad).

iPhoto: I haven't had any issues. I am still disappointed in Apple though... STILL NO SUPPORT FOR SUB FOLDERS!!! YOU CAN MAKE SUBFOLDERS BUT IT WILL NOT IMPORT THE NICELY ORGANIZED PHOTO LIBRARY YOU HAVE. PFFT.... I KNOW I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO'S BEEN BEGGING FOR THIS. Oh well... Looks like they just want you to use Aperture....

I haven't used the other iApps but I started up DVD and all seemed fine.

I hope there is an update soon... Other than the issues that I've mentioned.. This is an awesome update.

BM1  I found that the reason iMovie and Garageband were crashing is because there was a corrupt file in my iPhoto library. I had to rebuild my entire iPhoto Library because of this. I lost all my Albums... But at least the apps work now! :D

PETER NEFF  I have had major iphoto problems since installing ilife 05. Random photos disappear from slideshows, and also can no longer be edited. The only show up on the thumbnail screen. I have been looking for a solution and have found that I am not alone. Beware !!!!

PETER  All apps are great exept for iMovie which is way to unstable and crashes very very often. Which is not very nice when you're working on an important project for work or school.

PENELOPE JORDAN  Help! I bought iLife and a PikaOne external DVD-R drive in the hopes that I could finally back up some home movies using iDVD. Now I find that I can't install iDVD because I don't have a superdrive on my G4 laptop. The installer simply installs all the other components. Is there a way round this?

µø˜?´¥  Use a utility called "Pacifist" to extract and install the iDVD package from your installation disk. Then look for a hack to enable external burning (the hack consists of two files, "Hurtz" and "Phurtz", which go into the top level of your home folder).

    S P L A T !  girl!

im not sure for this... but exist an utilitie called "PatchBurn" ( http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/16466 )... now, you can make unsupported burners to be used directly with Mac OS X and "iApplications"... check it!

i hope you can FIX your problem...

APOLLOCLIPSE  Try Roxio Toast. It burns DVDs like iDVD, that is already assuming you have created the VIDEO_TS file.

    C. MILLER  Just a note regarding Garage Band. Even though the program doesn't record and playback Midi notes to an external midi instrument, the focus seems to be an introduction to basic sequencing and a lot of fun, even for those who don't really know how to play. My problem is this: If you hook up an external midi keyboard controller and attempt to play the internal instruments, the program has no quantize option. This is a very simple option that has been in the world of sequencing for over 20 years and helps those of us who don't have perfect rythm achieve an in-sync performance without having to go back and fix all the notes that may have strayed from the tempo. It's a very common and almost taken-for-granted tool used in bigger sequencers and I was a bit disappointed not to find such a common device found in this program. Let's hope the next upgrade will provide this (and the ability to send MIDI signals from the program back out to external MIDI devices.
