THE ANIMASTER  Good app, just one problem: It doesn't dim your (iMac) display by dimming the backlighting (at least not on a G5 iMac as far as I'm concerned). It merely darkens the pixels on the LCD.

Couple problems with this: One, it throws colours off. Two, the backlight is still there -- running the same amount of energy, albeit WASTING the same amount of energy.

I'd love to see the day when the developers can make this thing control the backlighting itself. I mean look at the macbooks (and my old powerbook) -- they go completely off -- the backlighting, that is. The iMac can do the same (under System Prefs/Energy Saver/turn off display).

M. LUTHER  Nice app. Works great to dim my SUPER-BRIGHT iMac G5 2.1GHz. Now I can work late at night and not be blinded. But the Sun icon is ugly. I replaced it with an icon of an Apple display.

CHOECKER  Well, using the slider resets the current display profile to the default display profile. Hence, this app is not yet useful for those who have set a custom display profile.

Otherwise it does its job well.

IANWEIR  Looks like a cool app, and I would definitely use it if not for one thing.

Upon adjusting the brightness using this app, the colors on my display are thrown off. Everything is given a slight blue tinge. Once I quit the program, it goes back to normal

ANONYMOUS  This is a must have. Was using DarkAdapted (very good too), Brightness Control uses less CPU (0% when inactive vs 4%). Great freeware.

CH  Works, just wish it was a menubar item and did not reset back to normal brightness when certain things happen like the screensaver lauches. Also, just a tip - the app Dockless works to hide the icon from the dock.

MARC  Excellent product. After TWO (2) years of use I ought to know.

I have 5 Macs in this home, from G-3 to G-5, some are networked wirelessly, etc.

Why use a screen-saver when you can use this

GENERATIONX  I have this utility for a while now. The old saying is true. Some of the best things in life are free. It is certainly true for BC 1.0.3.

Definite recommended for all users staying up pass midnight to produce work. Thanks.
