DESCRIPTION
Little Snitch... A firewall protects your computer against unwanted guests from the Internet. But who protects your private data from being sent out? Little Snitch does!

As soon as you're connected to the Internet, applications can potentially send whatever information they want to wherever they want.

Sometimes they do this for good reason, on your explicit request. But often they don't. Little Snitch allows you to intercept these unwanted connection attempts, and lets you decide how to proceed.

Little Snitch informs you whenever a program attempts to establish an outgoing Internet connection. You can then choose to allow or deny this connection, or define a rule how to handle similar, future connection attempts. This reliably prevents private data from being sent out without your knowledge. Little Snitch runs inconspicuously in the background and it can also detect network related activity of viruses, trojans and other malware.

WHAT'S NEW
Version 2.2.2:
  • Improved IPv6 support.
  • Improved German localization.
  • Improved display of inactive rules in rules window.
  • Fixed: Unnecessary connection alerts with “Deny any connection” rules and IPv6 addresses.
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.4 or later.

LIBERTYFORALL1776  Great useful little app that still needs to go 64-bit! I mean who still makes 16-bit apps anymore? ;-)

Does the app work for you on your 64-bit Intel Mac? I works just fine on mine! I wouldn't be without it and have no complaints what so ever.

THOMAS1977  People who complain about a application not being 64bit just doesn't know what they are talking about.

Beside more memory allocation there is absolutely no advantage. Heck, it is mostly a bit slower when doing floating point calculations.

Stop whining about the (intel) hyped 64bit era!

LIBERTYFORALL1776  Really?

http://www.geekpatrol.ca/2006/09/32-bit-vs-64-bit-performance/

http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2332115&tstart=1

http://www.apple.com/macosx/technology/

"64-bit to speed up everything from everyday applications to the most demanding scientific computations."

"It can also enable computers to crunch twice the data per clock cycle, which can dramatically speed up numeric calculations and other tasks."

THOMAS1977  @LIBERTYFORALL1776

Yes really.

Those slogans you copy&paste are typical Intel slogans.

The link to the tests shows vector and floating points are slower. And guess what, most mathematics are done with floating points.

Anyway, 64bit is good for more memory allocation and because of more memory some apps can do run a bit faster.

Read this for a change:

LIBERTYFORALL1776  Yea well, those tests were from 10.4.7! Obviously we are much farther along now coming into 10.6.3. Also, your article is six years old, a little dated.

ALL apps should be developed 64-bit, and give the END USER the choice of going into the Finder, selecting the application, Get Info and select "Open in 32-bit mode" if they so desire!

SIMPLE. Problem solved.
