Spaceward Ho! is a strategic game of awesome scope. You control the entire military and economy of a spacefaring race. Your goal: explore and colonize the galaxy.
Unfortunately, you are not alone. Alien enemies bent on galactic conquest will oppose your expansion. You fight them by developing new technologies and expanding your empire, or you can ally with them to turn enemies into friends.
Terraform newly discovered worlds or mine their natural resources. Maneuver your starship fleets, both in defense of your own systems and in offensive strikes against the evil aliens. Your strategic decisions will determine the fate of the galaxy.
BRIAN KENDIG Still works under Leopard, still fun, but still overpriced at $30 per license. This makes a multiplayer game prohibitively expensive. Make it $5 or $10, and you might get some life out of it again. (Version 5.0.5)
TY RAYNER Great classic Mac strategy game. Total ripoff at this price though. This is more expensive than Warcraft III... put the two side by side and you do NOT get what you pay for with this. I'd buy it at $15-$20. (Version 5.0.5)
PEPPER This game is fantastic. Having played it through almost all of its builds, I can say that it stays true to it's original addictive experience while getting better with each incarnation.
Grousing because you can't find pirated serial number is a little childish. If you like the game, pay for it.
I can attest that even the demo mode is quite a thrill and being able to unlock the higher levels of your attribues is very gratifying.
My only gripe is that the sound effects get quite annoying after a few hours.
Still, you can get extremely engrossed in this one very quickly and that's always good. (Version 5.0.5)
GWB Complete waste of money. Old version 4.0.5 was perfect, the new release isn't worth 10 bucks. More like 3.99. Agree with other posters (Version 5.0.5)
ANONYMOUS Simple but very elegant strategy game. The game designers clearly put their priority on gameplay (at the expense of features that would increase the playing time or graphics that would clutter the screen); the game is easy to use and well-balanced. It takes a while to get accustomed to the graphics, but once you do they're reasonably informative. The easy network play is also a plus. (Version 5.0.4)
ANONYMOUS good game, but gets easy quickly-- perhaps more ability to change the settings (such as increasing or decreasing the metal availability) and maybe even some responsability for the people on your plants (happy? not happy? how to fix it?!?!?) would make it more long-term-play-able... still, very good. glad I have it but look forward to updates. (Version 5.0.4)
SCORPIO What a hideous rendition of a classic Mac game. My mouth was watering when I heard that Ho 5 was out. Now my stomach is turning. Sheesh, who designed the new version and said "wow that's good"? because they should be shot. I'll stick with Ho 4.0, pound for pound, one of the best around. (Version 5.0.3)
FITCH Beermouse, it's not a shoot-em-up, it's a turn-based strategy game, for crying out loud! Like chess, with a sense of humor, resource management, technology advancement, unit improvements, etc. etc. I've played it off and on since version 2, more hours than I care to admit. Can't wait to see what they've done in this update! (Version 5.0.3)
