IAMDORIAN Ditto on the files # limitations. I have had it crash when attempting to load a series of larger TIFFS as well, and this is problematic because modern cameras are producing ever larger files (the Canon 5D Mark II is now at 21 MP!). Overall, I haven't seen any features added in a long time, either. Something as simple as a movie viewing capability – allowing a series of time lapse shots, for example, to be views a a real-time 30 fps video – might be nice, as the preview already does a nice job of this. You can drag in the MAIN view and see a series of thumbnails that – once the previews are loaded) will let you scrub back and forth nicely. So, why not add a movie playback at one or more speeds? Overall, a nice fast viewer that reduces the need to boot up PS. However, either this gets updated soon, or it may be time to for some of us to move on. (Version 2.31)

SHAUN In my books by far the best image viewer. Firstly Preview started blurring certain images after having installed Leopard ( although this seems to be better with 10.5.7 ) Secondly with other image viewers that I have tried, I would have huge amounts of "grain" in images that I had shot on film and scanned ( even 50 iso films ) Viewit does not give me this problem so 5 stars and a "big thanks" to the developer. IMHOTEP397 Definitely a Buyer Beware product at this point, because the developers don't respond to email. If you want to just use this as a viewer this or Viewer Lite would probably be sufficient, but then if you just needed a viewer you probably would stick to your included version of Preview. The things I was looking for was a viewer with some better than average, but not monster Data Asset management type tools. Anyway this has the basic tools I need, but it is unstable while attempting to sort image sets of, probably close to 1,000 and definitely unstable beyond that. ViewIt could also use a GUI icon overhaul, but unfortunately it looks as is the company has elected to stop active development on it. This is bad, because they have not stopped the service to take money for the app and I'm felling a but duped. Essentially, if you don't have many images ViewIt might be a good option for organization, if however you have a lot of images or just aren't comfortable paying for a something from a company that's no longer actively developing software keep looking. IMANIAC After reviewing dozens of features I have decided to select this program as my primary image viewer. It could have a better support of HTML generation and allow different media to be viewed. However, it works very as an image viewer, slideshow. Well done! iGreg: It seems that you are not happy with any software you use. Perhaps it is time for you to install Windows ;-) (Version 2.27)

IGREG Confusing features. I can not figure out what Viewit does with image files. I "Add iPhoto Album" but were are the files from iPhoto? Where does Viewit store its image files? Is it making duplicates of my iPhoto files? If so, were is it putting them? The logical place to look is the ViewIt folder in Pictures folder, yet no files are there. So far Viewit is not meeting my need of a simple image viewer. (Version 2.27)

BRUCE_Y ViewIt is an image BROWSER and VIEWER - it is not a photo/picture management data base. (Do not compare it to iPhoto which both views AND manages -insists actually- on total control of where your pictures go.) THus, it does not put pictures anywhere -- it lets you view your image files whereever they currently are. Drop a file or folder with images onto the ViewIt icon and they will open and display. Click or scroll through ten or hundreds. THey will not be moved anywhere. Though, it is possible to use the program to move image files, you must choose to do that yourself. It is like Apple's own Preview image viewer application, but has more display and management features. (Version 2.29)

IAMDORIAN The best of its class, ViewtIt makes a number of image-processing and previewing tasks a lot easier. I don't use it exclusively for image dumps from my camera, so my needs are a bit different than some I've read. There are only a couple of things I would personally like to see augmented in this great little App. 1) I'd love to see us able to resize thumbnails. This has been one feature that has never been added, and should be. At least a size default option in prefs would be better than nothing at all, although perhaps an option to toggle the auto-resize border width (currently what it does) -or- size option, needs to be added. This would be a nice feature. 2) An auto-play and loopable thumbnail-movie preview feature would really make time-lapse previewing far easier. Currently you can see a quick preview of all thumbnails by dragging in the main window view. A nice feature. However, for those of us creating time-lapse sequences from stills, the ability to see this playing as a movie would eliminate the need for going through the time consuming process of creating the equivalent in AE or some other motion graphics program. 3) We could always use a few feature/option updates in the HTML gallery creation tool. It is very useful as it is now, but who'd turn down an occasional new feature, eh? Just a thought. Overall, an indespensible digital arrow in my production quiver. Keep up the great work, and thanks for supporting Mac and Mac-Intel computing! (Version 2.18)

AUTOMATIC JACK ViewIt is an excellent, simple piece of software that I use every day. It's only failing is that it still doesn't recognise rotated images from digital cameras properly. And rotating them manually in ViewIt doesn't help, because it then fails to change the metadata, meaning that it appears correct in ViewIt, but all other applications will show it wrong. I do wish they'd fix this longstanding bug. (Version 2.11.5)

With iPhoto and Preview built into Mac OS X, why use this application? Isn't it redundant? (Version 2.9.5)

ANONYMOUS If it was redundant, nobody would purchase it. If you view 2 pictures a day you may use Preview or iPhoto. But if you think seriously about organizing your photo library or picking some images from it quickly, I recommend you to try ViewIt. (Version 2.9.5)

ANONYMOUS Viewit is MUCH MUCH faster than iPhoto. The slower the Mac the more you can get an benefit using Viewit. (Version 2.9.6)

JEFF FLOWERS ViewIt is a very nice application that is very quick and well programmed. It also allows for advanced sorting, as well as providing custom hotkeys for moving/copying graphics to particular folders. I bought a license earlier this year and I consider it one of my favorite Mac applications, along with GraphicConverter, Vuescan, OmniOutliner, SubEthaEdit, and Camino. (Version 2.9.7)

RUSSELL GLEASON I downloaded loaded it pn my first try just fine. I do like ViewIt far better than the OS-X Preview. (Version 2.8.9)
