SPLUNK23 [@WILPON] > First time we've ever been able to download > a version without having a Cisco support account. > (Version 4.9.01.0100) It's not the first time. Look under RELATED LINKS above and you'll find http://www.arrange.co.at/download/vpnclient-darwin-4.9.01.0090-universal-k9-BETA.dmg http://www.cperi.forth.gr/service_mans/vpnclient/MacOS/vpnclient-darwin-4.9.01.0080-universal-k9.dmg http://us.fsu.edu/vpn/software/vpnclient-darwin-4.9.00.0050-universal-k9.dmg However your observation still raises an interesting question I believe. Can we trust a Cisco VPN client that is not obtained directly from Cisco especially given what's at stake - the security of the entire corporate network behind the firewall? It's my understanding that Cisco don't condone any public third party like this. In fact, I think the hosts may be violating their software license. Cisco themselves are very controlled in their release and only permit download to registered users who have a Cisco Connection Online (CCO) login. See www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/vpnclient-3des What do others think? Do you trust these other sources that MacUpdate, Softpedia and others link to? Or do you prefer to wait until your sysadmin gets it from the source? (Version 4.9.01.0100) |
