COWICIDE  Every time I reopen it, it forgets where the last window was. Also, be default it uses the old-style folder icon from Tiger instead of Leapard. You can change it by selecting a Leopard icon in the finder for the folder background, but it forgets that every time you close and reopen it even if you click that default button afterwards.

Also, the sound it makes when you copy to clipboard is REALLY annoying and there's no option to turn it off. Speaking of options, there are no preferences for these sort of things so you are pretty much stuck with this. There should be more options for these sort of things.

It would be great if it also could create icons from jpeg files and stuff. The interface is lacking somewhat for options, but otherwise I really like how simple it is.

What I do like about it is you can drag icons around, but I don't like that you can only make them smaller, I wish you could enlarge the icons you put on the folders.

The huge problem though is it doesn't remember how you last set up the background folder and stuff. If those glaring problems, plus a way to turn off that awful copy sound, etc. were done I'd rate this much higher.

RAM5  Folder Icon Maker is listed here as $10.00 shareware. ...but when you go to the Kagi link to pay for it, it costs $15.00.

The "Copy to Clipboard" function doesn't appear to work on my machine running 10.5.1.

Not real impressed

APPLE ACOLYTE  1. It's worth the registration fee, IMO.

2. Copy to clipboard works fine for me on 10.5.2.

BIG MAC  I have been using FIM for years, and I was really pleased to see a while ago that it was still alive and kicking for OS X. The current release is great, and if you're troubled by generic folders populating your hard drive too, you'll want to download this application immediately.

BOBOCAT  I have used this program in the past and really loved it. I agree with other poster here that it is good to see the program "is still alive."

Thank you!

CASDIOUS  I love this program. It's so simple yet it's really changed the way my mac looks now. I can navigate so smoothly through it, knowing exactly what every folder is, because the icon I've made for it tells me. The pictures are better to quickly see than the folder names below them. I got quite addicted to making icons and it was a shame to run out of folders to make icons for.

I recommend this 100%

RBERRY88  I purchased Folder Icon Maker on 12/8/04 and paid the shareware price. Now I can only use the program in demo mode because of the update. You mean I am supposed to pay again (a month later) for the same program????? This doesn't seem right.

ANONYMOUS  Seems to work well, however, it *only* works if you drag *icons* onto it. I was really hoping I could just grab a jpg, gif, whatever and drag that onto it - but it doesn't work.

In order to get around this shortcoming, you can open the jpeg, copy it to the clipboard, get info on a generic folder icon, paste the copied picture onto that icon, and *then* finally drag that icon into Folder Icon Maker.

I really think the author should add this feature if he wants to charge people $5 for it. Also, what's up with the Help menu saying "New Application Help"? Sloppy. Fix it.

I *do* like the rotation/transparency/moving tools. That's nice.

NOVASCOTIAN  This is a neat little application, a companion to the same developer's Folder Text Labeler X. Its greatest use for me is to create folders with icons that I can put in the Finder Toolbar for quick access. When no icon is a good fit, I use Folder Text Labeler X. Wish they were combined in one ap.
