Even when the operating system can't 'see' the drive (eg; not in the drive list or mounted on the desktop), VirtualLab can still recover your data.

MACTECHHEAD  Run , don't walk away from this!

I wouldn't trust this as far as I could throw the developer, their server and the foolish way this scam software works.

Recovery via internet has got to be the stupidest method of data recovery I have ever seen being used.

Then the pricing structure is a pure scam just like another data recovery program uses.

If you can't recovery your data with Data Rescue II, Drive Genius 2, FileSalvage, Stellar Phoenix or DiskTools Pro, then save your money in desperation for a real data recovery specialist with a clean room instead of lame scams like this software because the price will be about the same then!

MIDTOAD  The vendor of this software hides the price from you. There is no way to determine how much they charge for the product until you actually install it and use it to find your missing files. At that point it appears that you pay a fee based on the size of the files you want to undelete. My guess is that this software is extremely expensive to use and they want you to be desperate enough to recover your file that, once you see the file in front of you, able to be recovered, you'll pay whatever enormous price they're asking. Caveat emptor. BTW they also make it difficult to uninstall the software.

****.

MRMACNUT  I decided to try this app because a lot of people had problems and they recently updated the software. It no longer Kernel Panics. Apple changed something in Tiger and it caused this program to no longer work. My guess is the disk i/o routines. Anyway, it does work now and pretty well. The cost is a little high IMO. But there are not a lot of recover apps out there, especially Volume Recover type apps for Mac. This one will recover a lot of different types of problems.

TONYGOULDING  Just a re-affirmation of the below comments, since sometimes you get quirks in different systems/configurations.

Yes, kernel panic ad nauseum.

It started off fine, prompting to identify what kind of recovery you need instead of having to wade through menu options, but as soon as it tried scanning the hard drive - POOF!

Strange that someone would spend (clearly) a lot of time on a piece of s/w like this only to fall down at the finish line...bizarre.

TONY  I'm sure many users here have more Mac experience than myself, but as someone that's been using OS X exclusively since the Public Beta days, I feel like this is not an unreasonable statement: THIS IS THE WORST SOFTWARE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. Not only did it not recover anything, it actually kernel panicked my machine during important work, causing me to lose MORE data than had already been lost. This is the first and only kernel panic I've ever had, on any OS version, spanning 8 different machines. You could not pay me to risk installing this wretched program on my system again.

ANONYMOUS  Caused a kernel panic when connecting to the server. Immediately removed it from my system after that.
