DESCRIPTION
OpenGL Extensions Viewer... Many OpenGL extensions, as well as extensions to related APIs like GLU, GLX, and WGL, have been defined by vendors and groups of vendors. The extension registry is maintained by SGI and contains specifications for all known extensions, written as modifications to the appropriate specification documents.

The registry also defines naming conventions, guidelines for creating new extensions and writing suitable extension specifications, and other related documentation.

This program displays the vendor name, the version implemented, the renderer name and the extensions of the current OpenGL 3D accelerator.

If you have an Internet connection, you can retrieve from SGI the extensions specifications that explain the available extensions.

WHAT'S NEW

DEMORAY  What a kick-a** little utility!

Provides everything you ever wanted to know about your Mac's graphic capabilities... and much more.

It runs great on my Tiger 10.4.11.

A bargain at twice the price.

THEFINALEOFSEEM  I had hoped to use this to bench Leopard vs Tiger on a less than supported machine. G4 450mhz, Radeon 7000, 512MB of RAM. Leopard was surprisingly responsive on it, and OpenGL Extensions Viewer ran fine, benching up to 1.4 and pegging it around 73-74fps on each. In 10.4.10...it crashed. Every time. So there's something buggy in this release, because I could not bench it on the old, supported OS, but I could on the new, unsupported (on that machine) OS. Strange.

RAY16  Hi guys, its Ray again, I've read the replies that were posted below. All have good points, what I was saying was that 2.15, only worked with my last build of 10.2.8 Jaguar.

I now have the last build of 10.3.9 Panther, I also plan to upgrade my ATI card.

    I have a G3B&W, 500 mghz, and 1024 of RAM

I also plan to upgrade the Processor too.

After the upgrades I'm sure that 2.27 will work fine.

RAY  Why is it that version 2.15 is last to launch in 10.2.8? I tried later versions but they didn't. I've had a longtime habit of saving files of software that work.

ANONYMOUS  Most tools need a special minimum OS X version to work in their lifetime.

ANONYMOUS  10.2.8 is the last version that works reliably on many Beige boxes. And before you sneer at them, consider that some of these boxes have been upgraded to dual G4s and GHz processors.

ANONYMOUS  Since the version 2.16, this program is shipping with Universal Binaries (PPC and Intel) which requires MacOS 10.3.9 to run.

    So two choices :

    - Support MacOS 10.2.8 + for PPC only

    - Support MacOS 10.3.9 - for PPC and Intel and beyond.

The second solution seems the better in long term.

PETER DA SILVA  Doesn't seem unreasonable to compile two versions with different flags.

UMAROMC  ...I'd suggest utilizing options in the installer to allow specific directory installation... not that this really needed an installer, did it?

ANDREAS  Great Tool - no other shows that Informations.

Interesting informations about what OpenGL funct. are implemented and which are not (NV, Apple(ATI) has to work).

MAC OS X OpenGL is a bit behind other OpenGL Systems.

UMAROMC  Definitely a pretty hot app! Appreciated intuitiveness despite the amount of information that can be culled from this app... and a built-in OpenGL benchmark and compatibility tester (well, more compatibility than a benchmarker- an old Rage128 could handle those tests)!
