Zingg! is a simple contextual menu for the Finder. It shows you a list of all applications that claim to open a particular file. A similar capability is now built into Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar). However, Zingg! lets you configure certain applications to appear always or never in the pop-up, you can also set it to not show Classic applications when the Classic environment isn't running.

What's New

Version 1.4.1:
  • Version 1.4.1 fixes a crashing bug which happened under unusual circumstances - unusual in my testing, that is.
  • There's a new setting to toggle the menu between names and paths with the "option" key. Pressing "Caps Lock" before pulling down the menu still works as before.
  • Application names can now start with '-' or any other menu metacharacter without messing up more...

Mac OS X 10.2 or later

This is a great little CM because you tell it which applications you want listed, unlike Apple's version which lists pretty much all the apps on your hard drive. Unfortunately, Zingg doesn't work with Intel macs, and I *really* miss it since I upgraded. It would be really great if the developer, or someone else, could adapt this concept to a CM for Intel Macs.

I've been using Zingg for about a year. Great product that does everything an openwith CMM should do. For free. Three cheers for the developer.
