I've been using Vim 7 for a while now. This one feels more polished than the earlier 7.0 release.
I like it!

Keyword completion in Python is still needs a bit of work, but this is common to Vim 7.0 across all platforms.

Take care to install the correct version for your operating system. Visit the web page, instead of downloading from MacUpdate, and scroll down the page a bit for links to a version for Tiger.

The correct versions are available on the MacUpdate page for vim 6.3. There is a version for 10.4, 10.3, and 10.2 and all are the correct links and are for version 6.3

I love VIM, and this application puts in all the friendly Mac defaults like cmd-s for save. It's a real time saver if you're working locally. I don't know why people would complain about carbon or why they would complain that it's not vi compatable. This program rocks.

I tried downloading and the link was broken. Here's a different spot to get this app from:
http://macvim.org/OSX/index.html#Downloading

One star off because the gvim script hardwired the location of the App to /Applications. This is only really a problem if you put gvim in your path and use it in the Terminal. Easy enough to change if you need to.

Running X.2.8, crashes immediately upon launch, something about the dylibs being out of sync 5.0.0 vs 4.0.0 in the console log.

I'll use it once it's in Cocoa. :) Death to Carbon!

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. There is no reason to prefer Cocoa over Carbon in a properly coded app.

Vim is a command line based program. If you prefer a "Cocoa version", you can always open up terminal and type "vim" (vim 6.3 comes with OS X)

Your point? It's a different app. If you love vi that much, just use it. vim has some very nice features and it was once only an improved version of vi.

VIM is not an improved version of VI. It's modelled on VI, but it isn't a proper superset, and some of the differences, particularly compared with NVI, are annoying.

All the vi clones behave a little differently. If you want vim to be more like vi, "set compatible".
