I very much like this new version of Chessic. It comes much closer to providing a playable interface for ICC. Blitzin is still better overall. But this helps alot. I like the way pieces which have only one legal move immediately go to that square. I seem to lose fewer games because of lag. On the previous version of Chessic, I would lose many games because of lag, even though I have a good high speed connection. I also like the color scheme more. Now if we could just get Marty Grund (LateKnight) to contribute some programming, maybe Chessic will become even better and Mac users will have equal footing with Windows on ICC.

I noticed that when a pawn is promoted there is no capability for the player to specify which piece they would prefer for the promotion--it automatically promoted my pawn to a queen. Not good, missing critical function.

Mad props to the author of Chessic. This program is very elegant and stylish and makes going to ICC much more fun than with Fixation. The Graphics are great and the interface is much cleaner and more streamlined than Blitzin for windows. The pieces look nice.

I have experienced a bug though. Sometimes if you make an illegal move the program will freak out and make erroneous moves from that point onward. Normally if I accidentally grab the wrong piece I'll just quickly drop it on an illegal square so that it pops back in its original position (a habit developed from Blitzin and Fixation) rather than accidentaly forget where the rook was and have the the program think that it was my intended move. Sometimes when I use this technique with Chessic, it'll freak out. Then on the next move I'll grab some piece and make a legal move and Chessic will actually move a totally different piece. Very frustrating. Have to be disciplined and careful grabbing pieces to move.

Finally a suggestion. Please add FICS support for Chessic, that would be fantastic. I joined ICC just to use Chessic, it is just that much better than Fixation with it's ugly pixelated pieces.

There are other fonts available for Fixation by the way so your comment is incorrect. The site for those is http://world.std.com/%7Ewij/fixation/chess-sets.html. And those do work with system 10.4.

In my view the old chessic piece set (called classic in Chessic 2.0) was actually nicer. If you take a look at the (basic gnu style) set in 2.0 the black piece look the same as before but the white pieces look different because they have an outline. The authors should bring back the old GNU set.

Finally, a big difference beteween Fixation and Chessic is that you can download e.g. the Hastings piece set for free in the case of Fixation but with Chessic you have to fork out $49.

It's a great interface that has a chessboard with nice piece set for playing on ICC. In future developement, it will be upstanding to add support for FICS.

Thank you for your work on a GREAT interface. It has made going to ICC so much better.

I love this guy who said:
"Blitzin for Windows is still the best interface for ICC"? HAHAHAHAHA!! Gawd, that was funny. :)

Blitzin is awful in about 100 ways. Annoying banners, windows, popups, animation that eats up clock time ... the list goes on. But you've got to be alert to actually understand this.

Please keep working on this excellent project! Many of us deeply appreciate your great effort.

In using Chessic on ICC, the main difficulty (bug?) is that if you should move a piece to an illegal square, instead of refusing to move, the program PUTS your piece on the CLOSEST legal square - often leading to disaster. It would be far better to refuse the move, not to make the next best choice.

It sucks on G3! It constantly makes erronious moves on ICC.

A beautiful interface, this version doesn't support all of the features that some of the other ICC access apps do, but it's the only one that I'll use. Thanks Joakim!

Even though I like this interface to ChessClub.com, it quits about 70% of the time as I logout from the ChessClub server. Have no idea if this is bad for my system but it's kinda aggravating. You can not connect manually either. Fixation does that. Blitzin for Windows is still the best interface for Chessclub.com. To bad for Mac only users.....please give us a fix to this little problem....I'd even shell out a few bucks for this game face if it worked as well as Blitzin. Otherwise you'd be better off with Fixation 2.1 for OSX
