PowerMate is the coolest volume knob your desk has ever seen. Crank up your MP3s and CDs. Then with a push of its button, mute your music to answer the phone and handle the complaints.
What's New
Version 3.0
A completely redesigned user interface.
Support for as many as 96 possible combinations per application with the addition of modifier key support
Many additional types of actions, including support for a new radial menu system.
More settings for your PowerMate's light including a CPU and audio input monitor.
Much easier handling of multiple PowerMates and configurations.
After using it for a long time I decided that it is not for me. The benefits are small and I'm not so sure that it doesn't use too much CPU. Anyway my Powermates are now retired. It was good when it was in System Preferences but now unless you enjoy shutting it down every time you restart then it is a real loser.
ligaz sings a different tune here. See his comments on Acorn where he uses sarcasm because I felt they should have a PPC version. Here he feels there should be a PPC version. Apparently he talks o both sides of his mouth.
newest driver 3.0 for snow leo still moves the mouse cursor while turning the powermate wheel and triggers a mouse click when pressing the thing (e.g. for muting the sound). s u c k s big time, guys!
when do you plan to finally release a decent driver for the powermate?
Well as OS X/Mac/iPhone, everything took off, these guys and their 2 supporters who downrated my comment doesn't get one thing: Mac isn't 1% anymore and it is a matter of Mac Mini/XCode to support OS X/iPhone.
They aren't the old Griffin I see.
With addition of monitoring cpu activity and sound activity which I wanted since the inception of PowerMate is there anyway to release one last update for ppc users to take advantage of these new features. I just wish you added it years ago. I reviewed this items when it first came out and knew it had great potential back then. Over the years it proved be to be correct with how it evolved. I would get on my knees if you would somehow make one last ppc update with some of the new features PLEASE!

Finally! It works!
I have had 2 powermates since they first came out. The first drivers worked ok, but between system updates and driver updates, they never worked right again. Until now. I have played with several apps and the finder over the past day, and everything seems to work with my powermates like it's supposed to. I had pretty much given up on them ever working correctly, but now I'm just worried that the next system update will break them.
Woah. An update for the PowerMate? I "used" it maybe for a week before tossing it in a drawer and never thought we'd see an update. I'm going to have to scrounge around for this thing - I know I've got it in a drawer somewhere - try the new driver out and see if I can figure out why I bought it now.

Great update for the PowerMate. Works like a charm for me under Snow Leopard/64bit.
The new version is also easier to configure and brings nice new additions.
We had to wait quite a while to get it, but I sure am glad to have it now :-)
Yep... The driver have always been the issue with the PowerMate. Taught of reinstalling it to scroll down faster, and with 10.5.6 the pointer moves right (or left) when I scroll up or down. After a few rotations, the pointer moves out of the window (in my case, a Firefox page), and the scroll changes to volume up or down...
I'll hope for an update. Meanwhile, I'll keep using the scroll wheel on my mouse.
I tried to upgrade from ver. 1.6.4 on an Intel iMac running OS 10.4.10 Inspite of removing older version and deleting the preference file I could not get the newer version to display Global Preferences in the Preference Pane menu. The only function turning the Powermate was to change system volume. I could not scroll in web browser. In addition, this version does not support Unsanity's Cee Pee You. I reverted back to ver. 1.6.4 and all is back to normal again. As they say: "If it ain't broke don't fix it!"
i can't get this new version to work with my PowerMate! no matter how many times i try reinstalling the driver, the wheel moves my cursor when i turn it, and clicks my mouse when i push it! I've desperately been trying to find the 1.6.4 drivers... can anyone who's still got this help?
I have the driver installer v. 1.6.4, but I have no way to contact you. You might try contacting Griffin directly either by this webform or by telephone on their site:

On the "dark side", companies still support Windows XP for God's sake. XP! 7 years old OS.
