And there's a newer build (6786) with a few other fixes, which I found out about on this Twitter RSS feed for Elgato Support:

The update works fine, but the ability to send edited recordings directly to Toast has been removed from this version. (There is no longer a Toast button in the Recordings window.) You can still open the .eyetv package and drag the video file into Toast, but having it within the app was handy. I'm getting a bit tired of product updates losing functionality; been happening a lot recently.

Removing the user forums - bad.
Removing previous versions link - bad.

It's possible to drag recordings directly from the EyeTV UI to Toast, open them from within Toast, or drag .eyetv packages to Toast. There's no need to dig into the recording packages for the video files.

3.5.4 update now crashes on exit (app quit unexpectedly) on my Snow Leopard MacMini install.

Thanks to Elgato no longer having support forums they have removed the ability to :-

a) Logging the fact that theres a problem to the wider community for discussion.
b) Using the link they used to supply to downgrade to a previous version.

Now it may only be me with this problem (though never experienced anything like it on previous releases) but luckily I have kept previous versions and have downgraded back to 3.5.3 with no issues.

Come on Elgato bring back the support forums and downgrade links and also make this product what it needs to be which is a stable, Airplay supporting, market leading piece of software.

Yup, the unexpected forum closing was a disappointing shock. Elgato could have at least temporarily left it open with read-only access instead of abruptly cutting everyone off from any useful information archived there.

This knowledgebase article covers your second issue:

How do I upgrade or downgrade EyeTV 3?
http://support.elgato.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=3074&nav=0,257&languageid=1&group=englishdefault

I doubt EyeTV 3 will ever support AirPlay. Maybe EyeTV 4 will, which I suspect will be announced/released relatively soon.

Umm, the MOST important feature that EyeTv could add would be AirPlay! This would be great for iOS Apple TV integration!

I don't know where the $108 price number came from, unless you include a bunch of hardware with the software.

- Improved UI and overall performance

What specific UI improvements?

Still wish that Escape would close the Show Detail and Show Info screens. And the back arrow at the top of Show Detail seems silly considering that clicking anywhere in that screen (except the non-obvious IMDb link) will close it. And what's the purpose of the never activate front arrow there?

*Still* no "move marker to playhead" keyboard shortcuts in the editor that I've been requesting for years, similar to QuickTime Player 7's "Move In/Out marker to playhead location" shortcuts and commonly in other apps with video editing (e.g. MPEG Streamclip).

The UI feature I keep expecting is the Previous or Last Channel button. That way you can switch in one click to the previous channel you were watching w/out having to click forward or backward thru each channel in between...time saver!

Not sure where you'd like that button, but there's the Shift-Command-L shortcut for Controls > Last Channel when you're using a keyboard. And the EyeTV profile for the HippoRemote app, that I sometimes use to control EyeTV with my iPhone, has a "last channel" button.

Perfect !

I use EyeTv's since the very first one EyeTV USB, over time they improved everything, now almost perfect !

I experienced Only a little trouble while using TWO EyeTv's at the same time on same LAN (one DTT and one Netstream). The EyeTv program that's on the Macmini (with the DTT - hard connected) wanted to connect to the Netstream, that caused some network problems... Had to "manualy" block it from connecting to that IP (with LittleSnitch) and now all is again perfect !

Do NOT worry ! This can only happen if you use it on multiple Macs and mix that with TWO EyeTV's, one of witch must be a EyeTV Netstream, on same LAN.

I've been using EyeTV software for years now and have "cut the string" (for the most part), with my cable provider.
I've stayed with (and will be staying with), version 3.4 for many reasons.
In the past the updates past 3.4 have rendered various devices as "unrecognizable", have caused features that I've found very user-friendly to stop working, and other things.
I've stopped thinking that the "newer software must be better" mind set to what works best for me is best.
Thanks for all the hard work but V. 3.4 is just best for me.

In version 3.5.3 whenever I move a window, its size shrinks to "Small Size". I hope this is a bug and not a feature, since it is a huge usability problem (and I'm already considering restoring the previous version).

If you ever get the famous "USB 1.1 connection" alert on any version of this software, especially with EyeTV Hybrid USB stick (the one with digital free air): Plug the device to a dedicated USB port (not to hub) ideally to one at back of your mac, near to hot fans. Leave it plugged for 1-2 hours, let it warm itself. USB 1.1 connection issue magically disappears.
Do NOT put anything which isn't in food standard into kitchen aperture.

To all EyeTV Hybrid users:

There is a widespread problem with the device being only recognized as being on a USB1 port or not at all - the bizarre solution is to heat up the EyeTV Hybrid for 2 min and then plug it in (don't make it too hot or the plastic will melt). See http://forums.elgato.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=527&start=25 for details

I was ready to throw mine away - now it's working again.

I've had the same problem for a while, it took me a month to get the "clue", "the warm-up factor" wich I use to achieve by "searching new channels in analog" using youtube app, once it warm and it was recognized I could use it for months simply without rebooting my macmini, (logout didn't matter) but also every reboot would reqiure a "warm-up" session, and it worked like this for about another six/seven months and then it just died, (the tuner) no more warming it for 2-3-4-5 etc. etc. minutes, that was an USB dual tuner analogic/digital terrestrial, it lasted about two years ;
So I bought an USB dual digital, beginning of summer 2010, (end of May) in september it started again with the infamous, "connect the device to an USB2 port............", at the moment I just disconnect and riconnect the device to the same port, but "it all started this way".
Now EyeTV is definitely the best TV SW for mac, no chance for the others, but, I wish I could say the same about the HW they sell.

Don't know what it is but I got stuttering on my iMac 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo with 4 GB RAM, and I'm still getting it on my new iMac 2.8 GHz i7 with 8 GB RAM. It doesn't matter whether I'm recording or playing back, and it's absolutely frustrating.

There's still this bug with the Eye-TV Quicktime plug-in installed into the main library folder which causes a green poster frame for MP4 files in the Finder and in iWeb! :-(
Only when you delete this plug-in the problem is solved, but Eye-TV keeps on putting in it back in by relaunching the app.

The one thing that's been driving me nuts with EyeTV 3.0.1 is the constant prompts to authenticate as an administrator (I run EyeTV from a standard account, as I do with all apps).

I tried changing permissions on the com.elgato.* prefs files, and on a few other files I found in the Application Support folder, but with no luck. I contacted Elgato's tech support, and received the following answer:

Thank you for contacting Elgato Systems.

We are aware of a problem with non-admin accounts and EyeTV 3.0.1. There is a problem with saving a setting to our global preference when quitting out of EyeTV. Hopefully our Engineers will fix the problem soon.

Some of my customers have been able to click Cancel and bypass the admin password entry. Another changed permissions for ~/Library/Preferences so the non-admin accounts had Read/Write permissions.

Hello,

When you open up the prefs and go to guide, does it say that your Titan account is active?
Stupid question, but, are you connected directly to the cable, or is it going into a cable box first?

It's a shame that you aren't getting your guide...for me, that's half the coolness of EyeTV software.
