i remember reading that webserverkit or whatever it is called is open source with no source to be found, and the config options arent available making it a leap of faith... with server logistics you know what you are getting and you know that it is a quality product.
--i've used their packages for php, mysql, and apache. the panels are especially useful. best of all there are instructions for impatient people like me so once you have the package installed you can update with only a little know how.
Yes, it does overide the OS X supplied version of Apache but installs itself to /Library/Apache2. You previous installation of Apache isn't removed. Apache2 has it's own .prefPane to handle Start/Stop etc so you can't use the OS X Sharing panel setting to control your webserver anymore.

Actually, to clarify, it does override the built-in Apache in the sense that they cannot listen on the same port. You can however run them together (though not advisable), and assign one to listen on Port 80 and the other 8080 (for example).
Complete Apache comes with it's own Preference Pane that lets you start/stop and examine the config logs.

Damn, that was amazingly simple to install and setup -- the pref.pane is very handy.

So easy to install. I don't know what I should do without these complete packages from Aaron Faby!
This has to be the most compatible web server on the market. It's even free! You can do what ever you want with this web server. Including custom error messages. Great stuff.

I had to remove this and companion Complete PHP 4.3.4 and reinstall 2.0.47 because I couldn't get PHP going on Panther/G4. Kept getting this error message:
Syntax error on line 1159 of /Library/Apache2/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /Library/Apache2/modules/libphp4.so into server: dyld: /Library/Apache2/bin/httpd can't open library: /usr/lib/libltdl.3.dylib (No such file or directory, errno = 2)
[Version 2.0.48]

You need to install the Xcode Tools if you are going to use Complete PHP 4.3.4. It is listed in the System Requirements of Complete PHP.
