Hey, Spider Web -- your MU icon doesn't do this game justice! That blurred, low-res dragon made me hesitate. I'm glad I downloaded the game, but I gotta admit, my very first impression was shaky. Just my 2 cents...
I'd also recommend you add a screenshot to this page. How 'bout it?
Otherwise... great game. Very involving!

Spiderweb Software got me into mac gaming. Unfortunately, none of my friends understand why a 20 year old college girl opts for avernum in darkness rather than beer soaked frat parties. I'll tell you why: the game is amazing. I enjoy being able to control my own destiny in this game. No other RPG I've played allows me to do whatever I want, even killing the peasants! If you're a graphics snob, this game might not appeal to you, but it will challenge your brain and make you laugh.

this game was pretty cool. The graphics were good, the game was fun and it was solid overall. Its good value for RPG lovers.
This is easily one of the best Action RPG series that has been released for the Mac. Exile 3 had everything, from the addiction creating storyline and gameplay to the secrets that create the bet replay value.
Avernum 3, based on Exile 3, has it all, but better. At the very least, any true Adventure RPG fan needs to play the demo.
After Exile 3, if you ahven't played any other avernum game, the controls and changes to gameplay are a little... weird. But easy to get used to!

Avernum 3 is amazing - it totally lives up to all its promises as a rebuild of Exile 3 and sequel to A1 and A2. It has hundreds of hours of gameplay, you don't need to have played any of Spiderweb's games before to jump straight in and play (and win) this one. There are masses of quests, masses of powerful magic artifacts, it's just a great, thoroughly enjoyable game that people even on slightly older macs can enjoy.

The Story...
The surface world is ruled by the Empire. Its power is absolute. Its control is unchallenged. And, as a soldier of the Empire, you have a good, comfortable life ahead of you. But then a rebel named Dorikas tried to assassinate the Empress, and everything went wrong for you.
The villain fled somewhere into Avernum, an underworld nation of eccentrics, misfits, and barely civilized monsters, most of whom hate the Empire. And that is where you are going. You must find Dorikas, while dealing with spies, betrayal, and assassins at every turn.
The enemy is waiting for you. You will only survive his attention with the help of these strange cave dwellers. If, of course, they don't kill you first.
