Madena is a medical image viewer and image processing program. Madena can open all QuickTime compatible image file formats as well as most Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) and ACR/NEMA file formats.

DICOM is the current industry standard for medical images and is widely used for CT, MR and US images. Madena currently supports the following 8-bit and 16-bit DICOM formats:

Version 3.21:

A new menu added to select what to copy to the clipboard.
Regions of interest (ROI) can now be copied to the clipboard as pictures (e.g. then pasted into Photoshop as a layer).
Arc ruler measurements now copy correctly to the clipboard.

OsiriX is visually impressive (although it still freezes a lot) It could eventually become the all time "luxury car" of viewers on any platform. It is trying to accomplish almost every imaging task imaginable... Madena serves a different purpose and has different image analysis goals. Think of Madena as a pick-up truck of tools, straight to the job at hand, no frills...

Great value for freeware. Inteface for graphics manipulation is a different and take getting use to.

Madena also reads the ANALYZE 7.5 file format and 16-bit TIFF files. No additional drivers or licenses are required. Comprehensive "window & level" functionality is provided for 16-bit images.
