OpenUp allows you to double-click on compressed and archived files and have them open in the Workspace. It supports decompressing PAX, GNUTAR and ZIP archives, as well as arc, arj, atob, uuencode, bzip, toast, gzip, compress, lha, pax, zip and zoo. More formats than Stuffit Expander.

Stop! Why the heck .rar isn't supported? It's the main reason I downloaded this because Stuffit sucks too hard.

Great!!!
It may have some bugs but there is stuffit too, so there's no problem.
The ADVANTAGE is : pax!
It's able to decompres .pax files, so if you have an installer and you don't want to install the hole thing, you can extract only the parts you need without having to buy the installerextractor whose name I forgot.

Control-click the installer and select "show packagecontent" or something similar (just below the colorlabels), then look in Contents for Archive.pax.gz and drag it to OpenUp. You'll find every item that would be installed.

Ummm... doesn't recognize .sit files? I don't get it. says it can do more formats than stuffit, but can't even do .sit? I must be missing something.

Still useful. I hope the dev is still mantaining it and release a update. Adding a progress indicator would be really nice. ;)

Awesome program! Uncompresses archives twice as fast as Stuffit Expander and twice as well. 1 thing missing: Progress Bar. Otherwise, great app! I will never stop using this.

.toast is a disk image format, so it's no wonder OpenUp doesn't decompress it...

Someone should port XAD to Mac OS X: it decompresses significantly more archive types than this program (or Stuffit for that matter)..
XAD is modular too, so more archive types can be supported, and it supports various disk image formats (so Toast users would have a chance to decompress their toast image files).

According to the read me, this release doesn't support Stuffit .sit files anymore. That's too bad; I was looking forward to using it for .sit. Aladdin's software is just clunky.

Had a dmg.bz2 file for which stuffit would just create an empty folder!!!
OpenUp correctly created a disk image file which I could then open.
Aladdin needs to get this guy on the payroll!!
