chartConstructor was designed for one purpose, to create charts that aid in the project management process. With its fully aqua compliant interface, chartConstructor allows you to build Gantt and PERT charts in minutes. Once created, these charts can be printed or exported as image files for inclusion in other documents, or on the web.

ChartConstructor is perfect for small and medium size businesses that need to make Gantt and PERT charts, but don't require some of the features (and cost) of other options.

This software seems no longer available. Developer's site does not exist!

This product is WAY too buggy to call release software. Click on a task and it changes the duration. Click to edit a date, and changes the start date. Add a child node and all the dates reset to today. Pathetic bugs. AVOID 2.0.2.

WBS (work breakdown structure) tool that provides nicely printed Gantt and Pert charts. Very simple interface, lots of logical "drag & drop" with optional keypresses to accomplish various alterations to the chart structure.

Fast and clean. "Print to pdf" in OSX results are perfect; some apps fudge this and provide strange printouts.

It's not Microsoft Project (thank goodness!).

The Help file is short but complete and accessible through the Help menu.

Another user suggested FastTrack Schedule instead of chartConstructor. $300 vs. $45. Hmmm; you choose.

Haven't used the app long enough to give a realistic comment about "stability" but I've mucked about with all the commands and intentionally tried to make illegal task dependencies (which the app politely advises it will not permit). Can't seem to crash it.

Only "complaint" is that long task descriptions are cut off when printed in Pert view and don't wrap in either Pert or Gantt view. (I've eMailed the developer about this.) Nevertheless, it has enough right with it to justify my $$.

What the heck is Gantt and PERT? Hmm.. CPM???

If you are VERY new to this form of scheduling, chartConstructor can help you visualize it more plainly.

While it doesn't have the connectivity and bells and whistles of say Project or other software, but it comes at a very cheap price. ChartConstructor allows 10 projects in the unregistered version.

It's more of a tool to let you make the charts (hence the very appropriate name) than handle the whole ideas of moving dependencies automatically. If you move a project, you might find yourself having to adjust other project manually.

As a visual tool make charts it works fine.

If you want the right balance between this app and MS Project, then try FastTrack Schedule 8.0. I have been using it for years now and whilst MS Project is very complete, it's too full blown for every day fast creation of project tracking. Go on, trial FastTrack. You will be very impressed. BTW - I do not work for FastTrack.

It really does work and it was not their fault - the password did work, it was just my machine.
As I say, it does just what it claims - draws GANTT charts. It has dependency and all the features that an occasional project manager would benefit from.
I still can't get it to import anything but that might be me!
And it is an excellent price!

If all you want is a Gantt chart, then this is fine. I have used Microsoft project but that has far more features than I would ever want.
There are 2 problems:
It cannot import from Project and when you pay your money, they send you a password which doesn't work, which is a pain - I didn't pay 20 pounds to use a crippled programme.
I am sure they will sort me out, but that isn't the point - they should get this right if they expect people to pay.
