Holy crap, you need to make your website not look like it's straight out of the wayback machine...

Really? PPC only? In this day and age?

So it is optimized for Mac OS X 10.5 but there is no PPC version? :(

If you want that 1995 MacOS 8 feel to your text editing, check this app out!

On the other hand, if you prefer to get your work done without a silly cumbersome interface giving you a headache, you already have Text Edit.

Stuck in the mid-90s, you say? Just check the developer's site!

I suggest you try iText Express (free) by the same author, which is TextEdit on steroids.

Each of Michiaki's programs has its own strengths and this will be seen as more appropriate for Japanese users.

My favorite of the lot is iText Pro '09 and I consider it my favorite program on my Mac, I do just about everything with it. It is just brilliant.

I find iText to be a smooth, simple and easy to use text editor. It is much superior to TextEdit in opening simple text files; especially the "Read Me"s that come with all software installers. Additionally it adds more in flexibility and customization than TextEdit.

Are you people all on crack or something? What exactly does this do that TextEdit doesn't, except an ugly ass colored interface with a thoroughly pointless floating "toolbar".

Next.

As a matter of fact, MrAndre, iTextEdit does do a few more things than Apple's TextEdit, and that's why I've preferred it through several versions, including the latest.

Perhaps if you hadn't taken your grumpy pill this morning you could have calmed down enough to explore some of its features lacking in TextEdit:

1. Go to line #
2. Mark
3. Word, character, etc counts
4. Greater flexibility in layout choices
5. Option to show invisible marks ....

...and even more.

But then no one is forcing you to use the floating tool or do the free download, so I don't quite know what your problem is with the mere existence of iText.

As to the "ugly-ass" interface, aesthetics is a personal matter, isn't it? As for me, I much preferer ugly interfaces to people putting on their ugly faces to rant on software reviews. We can do without the "ugly American blowhard" attitude (oh, excuse me, perhaps you're an ugly French blowhard instead?)

Avec un peu de chagrin,

Vivaldi

Nice little text editor. The Pro version is nicer, but this gets the basics done for a great price (i.e., free).

I finally feel I must say something. I have been using this app from its first release and still have it! I love to see it updated and supported because this is so fast and simple, but yet powerful. Surprisingly, I never upgraded to the Pro version, but that's because I never really felt the need. Anyway, keep up the good work!

This App remains my favorite text tool, and though I have used MS Word for years I only do so grudgingly on a few things, and much prefer the SPEED and simplicity of this program for almost all my daily text work.

I began using the freeware iText at version 3.0.1 and upgraded to iText pro at version 3.0.2. I have used many word processors, and this is by far my all time favorite for everyday use. Though the documentation certainly still can use improvement, the program itself is fast, versatile, and convenient for many projects using both text and images. Even though I personally still have a need for MS Word, I much prefer using iText where their is not a need. I downloaded 3.0.4 first day it became available and found that some deficiencies in the previous version for OS X have been well addressed. I highly recommend it.
