Almost $500 for this, huh? Looks like they raised the price $100 since I looked at it last. It's ok software, but not worth that much. The real issue I had with it was the license agreement. You could only install it 3 times on that same machine until your license became invalid. If I pay that much for software I want to be able to uninstall and reinstall it as many times as I want. I like doing a clean wipe of my computer every now and then, not to mention system upgrades.
Don't know if they've changed that policy with this new version, but judging by the price tag, probably not.
"For version 5.8.4 it refers to the work we are doing for the 7900, 9900 and the 11880 HM. It refers to the screening we are using. The HM designated printers are using Epson's screening methods."
The description here, or the reviewers, don't really give a detailed view of why this is a superior print driver; photo schools and graphic schools teach students that drivers such as this are well worth the money; pro photo labs always use high-end RIP drivers to save time and money, providing a higher-quality output, batch printing, ink/pigment savings and far more control than the anemic Epson printer-drivers. There are many benefits to investing in a pro-level RIP print driver, although I do wish the price was lower.

Open your .eps and .ps files in Preview or Photoshop (made by Adobe who OWNS the Postscript language) and print them out from there. Wha-la, they are "ripped". Preview is FREE and most have Photoshop installed. Save your cash.
Completely off topic, but it's French and it's 'voila', not 'wah-la'.

The previous "reviewers" don't seem to actually understand what this application does -- allowing for the profiling of printer/paper combinations for the most accurate color reproduction, and as a postscript 3 RIP for an inkjet printer. If you don't need these things, fine, but as a professional photographer this application is indespensible.
For the developers, i think the idea of having to call an (american) number to register the product is a very bad thing to do. in the age of email, why ask people to pay just for a trial of the product?
i would suggest using email for registration, then youd avoid the problem of closing out non american users.
im not going to try this since im on the other side of the world.

Tech support via their forums is poor - you may or may not get a response from Colorburst staff.
The software does work well though.
They often seem to take longer than necessary to fix bugs, get updates out.
