Show Desktop can hide all apps and show the desktop when clicked on in the Dock. Shift-clicking on the icon will show all apps. It also offers several Finder options such as: minimizing Finder windows, opening a new Finder window, and hiding the Finder.
What's New
Version 1.6.4:
Now a Universal Binary for native Intel Mac support.
Now requires Mac OS X 10.3.9.
After 'showing all' by clicking the dock icon, Show Desktop no longer stays in the foreground.
Requirements
PPC / Intel, Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later.
Good, but should and needs a short cut. I like Expose but it doesnt hide the apps. But this does, but needs to be done in a more elegant way. I dont want it in my menubar or dock. I want a teackpad gesture or a shortcut.
great little app. been using it for a good while now. note, i'm more of a mouse user than keyboard, hence, can't be bothered to use command+option+desktop feature.

Show Desktop is the Jaguar's Expose. For us Jaguar users, this is an Expose equivalent. One click of the menu bar icon and you get your desktop. Unbeatable. Thanks.

I agree. Use Panther's Exposé. It's much faster.

Thanks! This is great for notebook users when you don't have a multi button mouse connected. A lot easier than trying to to use complicated Exposé commands, which always require the use of the fn unless you wanna occupy an important key like shift or control.
I meant for users who prefer to use their right hand to drag between windows using the trackpad

Just hold down Alt + option then click on the finder icon in the dock !
it hides everything but the finder. You can do this with every other App !! just hold alt+option and click on any app, everything hides but the clicked application !

Showdesktop is better than exposé regarding the feature HIDE, why it hides the windows open and not only place them on the sides of the screen, it lacks a feature however: the possibility to assign a key to use the program

Doesn't Expose do this already? In fact, I think it does a few things more. But hey, if you wanna put it out, have at it. Just seems unnecessary to me.
