Direct Mail

I am really confused my version is 4.3.10 and when I ask to do an update it says that is the lastest version? Bigger problem is that all of a sudden I get an error message every time i try to send a message out "unable to upload your campaign to e3 Delivery Service due to the following error: Error renaming job file. What does that mean and how to fix it.?

There used to be a pricing option available that would allow you to use your own SMTP server. I believe it was around $99 one time fee only. The only option for using your own SMTP server is now listed at $299. I wonder why such a high price jump? Something significant must have been added to bump that price quite a bit? Did I miss something? The $30 option as listed on MU is for 1000 email credits. Could someone from e3 Software clarify what happen to the $99 option to use on your own SMTP sever?

The App Store version is very broken now. When I open my Direct Mail documents, they are blank. I know that the information is still there (I hope), simply by looking at the file size. But the app itself isn't reading it, instead presenting the file as a new (blank) document.

The customer service is appalling.

V5.0 is an amazing update to an already superb app and the update is free. Kudos to the DM team. This is simply the best solution to mass emailing and is all directly in your own control and can be worked on offline.

Very interested in this app. Do all mails HAVE to go through Direct Mail servers? Or can I also configure my own?

Simple yet powerful. Very flexible. A perfect tool for my business. I have been using for years.

This is a brilliant update to a great app, the addition of message folders is just what I wanted. The power of this app is being able to work fully offline, yet have all the functionality of MailChimp etc. The E3 server works well, reporting is good and support is top notch. Highly recommend for anyone running small to medium size mailing lists. integration with Daylite is a huge bonus

It's a great app and basically can do whatever MailChimp or CampaignMonitor do. I think it's well suited for small biz, and if you want to integrate with tools like Daylite than you should be overjoyed to use it.

The support is pretty good. They are not the fastest on the market (not always, but sometimes they are fast :) and they follow through till you get your issues solved.

Even though it chews pretty well all the HTML you feed it with, the available templates are not very customisable. I have never been able to use them because even though I like some aspects of each, there are other details that I don't and there's no way to achieve the desired results with the tools at hand. All in all I usually end up coding my own HTML, which kind of defeats the purpose of the WYSIWYG interface. Anyhow, I like the fact that when you use the tools offered, they don't mess up with the code and dirty up your HTML. Everything stays pretty clean.

I couldn't find any reference to a tempting language that would make me possible to create native templates (not talking about mail merge tags) to make it possible to create building blocks, custom buttons and more, much like the template provided. It would be a great addition.

Maybe it's too easy to get rid of a project form... there's no way to get it back.

I hope to see improvements in the ability to customise confirmation subscription emails and the design of the forms and HTML for pending/confirmation/unsubscribe: sorry but I don't like the forms to carry the Direct Mail footer logo. Sure you can provide your own forms, but then you cannot use variables for emails and other fields.

Nice features, but because the code generated is not available this app only get 2.5 stars from me.

Direct Mail 3.6.4 works well. The new version 4.0.1 does NOT. It tries to auto-upgrade your data files and crashes.

The feature sets and ease of use surpass all the other software based solutions I have looked at. Developers are also responsive.

This is a brilliant app, easy to make great looking emails. I have graduated from text mails to smart looking HTML mails using the template. The E3 mailing service works well and tech support is excellent. Highly recommended if you regularly send group emails or newsletters.

Do I understand it correctly : you have to send mails via the server of e3 Software? No thank you.

Purchased this app a while ago when it was not yet free to use as it is now. Was really impressed with the features and being able to use my smtp server was a necessity.
Too bad they chose to make it free with the restriction of only using their servers to send 50 mails a month, can't use another smtp server without a monthly paid subscription.
Great mailing app for anyone having the budget and the will to subscribe or a 50 list/month need, though.

I have been using this service/app since last Macworld. Just fantastic. Saves me so much time. Very efficient.

Great to see a free upgrade to this excellent Mailer!! Continue the good work, looking forward to many more years of using Direct Mail.
