I used this 5 or 6 years ago I don't think there is still a place for it as there are options like MailChimp etc. the developer has always been a bit difficult from memory as i also had a couple of support requested at the time

Not bad. Has one feature (or lack of a feature) I don't like, that is, every single time I want to send a batch of emails, and it's not spam, it's a newsletter, I have to choose the recipients list again. I only have one recipients list, I'd like it to default to just that list. Emailed the developer and he was dismissive. I'm also removing a few stars just because he is an as*hole, in his response to JJ on this forum. And it's too expensive for what it does. He'd sell a lot more of them and make a lot more money if he wasn't so greedy. But I doubt he's able to appreciate that. As*holes don't respond well to criticism.

Totally agree with the feature request for a default account, the software is fine but the method of use is clumsy and reading the forums the dev thinks he is always right. Have stopped using it now as Mailchimp is free and it is easier to use with more features

I have used this software for many years and seems to work fine. This software is geared more towards web designers and web professionals due to its many technical features and functions. I feel that program offers very good value.

From reading the recent comments earlier, I do wish that the company representative and the forum users would be more kind to each other as we gather here for the love of using a Mac. I wish everyone inner peace. Sincerely.

The MaxProg company, maker of MaxBulk Mailer, has demonstrated dubious business practices. Please read on and I believe you will agree. If you are interested in purchasing this software, you should be aware of this recent course of events.

I recently discovered a critical flaw in the software and reached out to the only option for support, their self hosted forum. The company is not available by phone, and they do not respond to email.

Below you will see two links to the conversation. The first link shows the support request as it appeared on the company's support forum before it was censored to remove evidence of a flaw in their software. The second link is to the posting on the forum as it appears now.

original post:

censored post as it appears today:

I presented the problem in a technically informative and objective fashion. The response from the company was rude and offered no technical support. If you carefully read my support request, and the responses back from their support, you will see why I am so frustrated and angry with these people.

If you are technically inclined, you will find it even more illuminating as to how insincere these people because my analysis is simple, and their response was defensive and deflected the facts.

The company behind this product may abandon you after they take your money. They may censor your posts so the public is not exposed to the product's bugs, and bad publicity. You should not believe what you see on the forum, because it is likely to have manipulated.

Finally, I have appealed to the company three times to reconsider helping me before I reached out to the public. They declined to help, or acknowledge. It's too bad, because I am willing to help them diagnose the issue.

Wow. What an answer…

yeah right? so that's the "developer" and official spokesperson for the company.

clearly we can see who is the idiot. definition: "an utterly foolish or senseless person."

that response is surely senseless, and foolish as representative of the company. if this person is still working for the company, then the company is equally foolish.

now see if he will answer why they pulled my post? not even the censored version is present.

this company cannot be trusted.

1. they did not acknowledge a critical bug
2. they removed my objective post from their user forum
3. they never responded to my request for a refund
4. they call their users childish names

If I didn't see your comment, I'd think this software would be one of the best. I've bought it a few days ago, and haven't used it at 100% yet, and I haven't seen any bug on it. However, after reading your comment and the developer's one. I can't help but think that this software shouldn't get any attention from us, as their developer doesn't deserve it. I haven't never seen such reply from any developer yet. It's unbelievable. If everything you said is true, we shouldn't feature any application from this dubious company.

Wow, the developer himself has done an even better job of scaring me than the original poster.

FYI, Spammers don't use software like this. People with newslists do.

This is the worst software ever!!! I tried to send a promo and it mailed to people 4 times. I sent out a couple times and cancelled as soon as it started. I am not a complet ludite- I promise. BUt there is something so counter intuitive about this product that you have no idea how many times it decides to send things out.

Good application but few steps behind DIRECT MAIL. To say that, MaxBulk Mailer got a lot of potential but overconfident developer would not give it to us ... due to his unfriendly attitude ...

May be he feel, that all those $$$ we pay him over the years to stay in business are for nothing ... right ...

I am looking for a good (I'd even settle for decent) bulk mailing application for OSX that has the following features:

* Rich Text emails
* Can easily pull lists from Mac address book
* Can easily insert variable data into body of email.
* Insertion based on rules would be great.

I've been trying to MaxBulk Mailer to work and the features look pretty spot on to my needs. The trouble is that I can't get it configured to work with my mail server. I contacted the developer and got a very fast response that said

Unfortunately, Mailings does not yet support secure (SSL) mail server's such as Gmail. If you have access to another mail server please try that. I am sorry for the incompatibility and I am working on an update that supports SSL.

"I do have another mass emailer called "Quaik" which does support SSL. It supports some of the features of Mailings. You can read more about it, and download it, here: http://www.limit-point.com/Utilities/Quaik.html (Be sure to read the release notes for important feature information that may not be in the documentation :)"

Quaik looks too light on the feature set for me.

Any suggestions on which email systems to use? I've tried with Yahoo and me.com accounts and can't get either one to work. If anyone has had success with those mail providers I would REALLY appreciate a tip on how to set MaxBulk to work properly. Alternatively, which other bulk mail applications do you suggest?

The reply you got was from Mailings and Quaik, which are from a different developer.
Were you also told that MaxBulk Mailer won't work with GMail?
From what I recall, I used version 6 using GMail. I had no interest in upgrading to version 7 and now to version 8, though, but I'm pretty sure it works with Gmail.
I don't use me.com, but for Yahoo try smtp.mail.yahoo.com:465 or plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com:465
I could not get it to work on version 6, but maybe it works on newer versions of the software.
